Review ~ Recreated by Colleen Houck

From Colleen Houck, New York Times bestselling author of The Tiger’s Curse, comes Recreated, the second book in the epic Egyptian-inspired Reawakened series, in which a seventeen-year-old must literally go to hell to save the love of her life.

Lily Young thought traveling across the globe with a reawakened sun prince was a grand adventure. Now she’s about to embark on the journey of a lifetime.

When Amon and Lily part tragically, he transports himself to the Netherworld—what mortals call hell. Tormented by the loss of his one true love, he’d rather suffer in agony during Lily’s mortal years than fulfill his duty to protect humanity.

Heartbroken, Lily seeks refuge on her grandmother’s farm. Yet she can feel Amon’s pain, and she has been having dreams—dreams of Amon continually suffering.

For before he departed, Amon gave Lily something very special, an item that connects them even though they are worlds apart. Now Lily must use this object to free him, and to free their realms from darkness and utter chaos. She will do whatever it takes.

Jewelz Review~
I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with myself until the next book in this series is released. Holy cliffhanger, Batman! Recreated is the second installment in the most recent YA/fantasy series by author Colleen Houck. You can read my review of the first book, Reawakened, here

This latest installment follows our heroine, Lily, back into the world of Egyptian god and goddesses. As with all of Ms Houck's books, Recreated is a fast-paced, rollercoaster of an adventure that literally springs from the page in vivid color. The descriptions are so thorough that it's as if a movie is playing in your mind as you devour page after page not knowing what twist the next chapter will hold. I'm certain my pulse was erratic at best while journeying through the Netherworld alongside Lily.

I'll admit that some things really threw me for a bit of a loop - and I know they had the same effect on Lily. There's a moment in the story where Lily complains that Amon, Asten, and Ahmose didn't really know what they were getting into when they agreed to become the Sons of Egypt and that had they fully understood they might not have agreed. The question is then turned on her - did Lily truly understand the sacrifices she'd have to make and what it would mean for her to save Amon from the Netherworld? I don't believe she did - actually I think it's pretty safe to say she didn't fully understand what she was agreeing to. But that didn't matter - she HAD to save him. That's how it is with love <3

In all, Ms Houck has crafted a spellbinding tale with twists and turns I never would have anticipated. The bounds of love and friendship are tested as is physical, emotional, and psychological strength. But through it all, what ties everything together and allows hope to live on through all the trials faced is this simple statement, " assured, light is always more powerful than darkness."

FYI ~ fantasy violence, mild language

Tifferz Review~
I was so excited about Colleen Houck's latest book I was thrilled when Amazon delivered it! I couldn't open it fast enough! I was surprised how much I had missed mummies, mythology, and  being swept along in a intense journey. So, the adventure, romance and unexpected continue. I will say at it does get a bit odd for me... I had moments I was like this is not happening. But as I continued reading things were explained and I was I little less stressed. People sacrifice a lot for those they love and that is clearly displayed throughout this book! Colleen has written another masterpiece. I look forward to book three is the Egyptian series! I told my kids I want the next book. They said go buy it. I said this book just came out. I have to wait a year for the next book. They said wow that's a bummer. Maybe you shouldn't read so fast! Ms. Houcks books are always worth the wait! I would pick up this clean read today!
