Jewelz Review~
Although it's hard to pick a favorite, I truly believe that Gabi and Hunter Blackwell are my favorite Weekday Bride couple! Treasured by Thursday really couldn't be a more perfect finale for this series.

To say Gabi Masini has been through a lot in the past year would be a gross understatement. However, she's trying to move on with her life and leave her past in the past. She's moved across the country and has set up house in Southern California, working for Alliance. Since Meg married her brother, Gabi has the Tarzana house to call her own.

Hunter Blackwell has a problem - he needs a wife, fast. While his old high school friend Blake offers the contact information for Alliance, he makes no guarantees that he will be accepted as a client - nor will he intercede on Hunter's behalf.

When Sam asked Gabi to take care of the Blakewell case, she never anticipated that Gabi would marry Hunter herself. Needless to say, everyone in Gabi's life is in shock and they have all threatened Hunter bodily harm, even death, should he hurt Gabi.

While Gabi is definitely in a fragile state - has suffered enormous tragedy - she is a strong, shrewd woman who refuses to be taken advantage of. She plays by her own rules and proves time and again that while her past has made her wiser, it hasn't jaded her to the point of losing the essence of who she is. And Gabi is not only an intelligent and beautiful woman, but she has the ability to see other's pain and weakness - the ability to inspire those around her to be better.

Hunter Blackwell may very well be an arrogant, spoiled brat, he's also a shrewd businessman who is always in control. He wants something - he gets it. No matter what means he has to use. When Gabi rejects him as a client for Alliance, Blackwell blackmails Gabi into filling the role of his temporary wife. While you want to hate him - because he is a pompous jerk - you can't help but love him too.

What happens over the next several weeks and months is nothing less than the perfect story of two people who hate each other, growing to love each other desparately. Granted, all is not a bed of roses - throw in a Colombian drug lord, an illegitimate child, along with the necessary paparazzi, death threats, and explosions - and you have the magic that is a Catherine Bybee romance.

Singularity Blog Tour

Singularity 2

   Legacy Human Cover
The Legacy Human by Susan Kay Quinn What would you give to live forever? Seventeen-year-old Elijah Brighton wants to become an ascender—a post-Singularity human/machine hybrid—after all, they’re smarter, more enlightened, more compassionate, and above all, achingly beautiful. But Eli is a legacy human, preserved and cherished for his unaltered genetic code, just like the rainforest he paints. When a fugue state possesses him and creates great art, Eli miraculously lands a sponsor for the creative Olympics. If he could just master the fugue, he could take the gold and win the right to ascend, bringing everything he’s yearned for within reach… including his beautiful ascender patron. But once Eli arrives at the Games, he finds the ascenders are playing games of their own. Everything he knows about the ascenders and the legacies they keep starts to unravel… until he’s running for his life and wondering who he truly is. The Legacy Human is the first in Susan Kaye Quinn’s new young adult science fiction series that explores the intersection of mind, body, and soul in a post-Singularity world… and how technology will challenge us to remember what it means to be human.

Praise for The Legacy Human “This book is Hunger Games (without the violence or controversy) meets Divergent.” “This story is so intense I felt I couldn’t get a proper breath.” “Science fiction with philosophical depth!”

Jewelz Review~
The Legacy Human (Singularity #1) was a compelling dystopian read. While it has elements that bring to mind series such as The Hunger Games and Divergent, this series has its own unique twist on the dystopian premise that kept me engaged.

The book is written in 1st person present tense, so the reader experiences the events through the eyes of our main character, Eli. We know what he knows, nothing more and nothing less. We expeience his excitment, frustration, pain, and joy right along with him. This was a nice change of pace from the typical 3rd person past tense point of view that is so common in today's popular literature. While it limits what the reader knows, it allows the reader an intimate understanding of the main character that you can't get from a 3rd person perspective.

Eli's struggle to understand his artistic gift, along with his quest to ascend and become part of the Sigularity is a journey frought with risk, frustration, love, and lies. He's surrounded by an array of well-developed supporting characters inlcuding his patron, Leonora, his sponsor, Marcus, and his friends, Cyrus, Kamali, Basha, and Delphina. As the reader journeys with Eli, we come to realize, as he does, that everything is not quite as it seems and that even he isn't who he thought he was.

The Legacy Human is a gripping YA tale that will keep you turning pages and leave you eager to delve into book #2. A wonderful first book in what I anticipate will be a phenomenal series.

EXCERPT ~ The Legacy Human (Singularity #1)
I want to ascend so badly, I can taste it.
It’s bitter and metallic, like the acrylic paint spread before me. It’s beautiful and beckoning and untouchable, like the shimmering rose skin of my patron, Lenora, who hovers over my work, tasting it in her own way. Her fingertips barely graze the paint, sensing its color and texture and scent in a way that is utterly inhuman.
Because she’s not human. Not anymore. She’s ascended—vastly more intelligent, compassionate, and enlightened than any human could be without the procedure. I’m just one of those remnants of humanity the ascenders left behind long ago.
Lenora leans in toward the painting in that sudden kind of motion ascenders sometimes have. Her cascade of red curls brushes my cheek… and raises goose bumps on my arms.
I hold absolutely still.
This is the closest she’ll come to touching me. Anything more would be… wrong. Ascenders and legacy humans don’t do that sort of thing, at least not legally. I tell myself the instant full-body alert is just because I’m a seventeen-year-old guy who’s definitely straight—anything vaguely female would get this response—but it doesn’t help that Lenora’s body is pure fantasy. Sculpted cheeks. Curves that irresistibly draw my gaze. Lips that beg for me to draw each perfectly rounded part. The red curls have to be synthetic—ascenders don’t have hair—but their softness still heats my cheek. There’s plenty to desire in the bodyform she’s wearing now, but lust is a pale reflection of the thick, complicated feelings I have for her.
Feelings no legacy should have. And no decent ascender would return.
It’s wrong to want her. Or really, just delusional. But my fingers ache with the need to touch her, just once. She’s close enough that I easily could.
If only ascendance were equally within reach.

  Duality Bridge
The Duality Bridge What does it mean to be human? Elijah Brighton is the face of the Human Resistance Movement. He’s the Olympic-level painter who refused an offer of immortality from the ascenders—the human/machine hybrids who run the world—in solidarity with the legacy humans who will never get a chance to live forever. Too bad it’s all a complicated web of lies. Worse, Eli’s not even entirely human. Few know about the ascenders’ genetic experiments that left him… different. Fewer know about the unearthly fugue state that creates his transcendent art—as well as a bridge that lets him speak to the dead. But the Resistance is the one place he can hide from the ascender who knows everything the fugue can do. Because if Marcus finds him, he’ll either use Eli for his own nefarious purposes… or destroy him once and for all. The Duality Bridge is the second book in the Singularity series and the sequel to The Legacy Human. This thrilling new young adult science fiction series explores the intersection of mind, body, and soul in a post-Singularity world.

EXCERPT ~ The Duality Bridge (Singularity #2)
Delphina is watching me from outside the holo matrix… along with Kamali, whose wide brown eyes hold silent judgment for the things she thinks I’ve done. Forbidden things, like being a love toy for my ex-patron and current-rebel-ascender, Lenora. Who happens to be standing right next to her. While Kamali’s graceful dancer body is hidden under the black military garb of the resistance, Lenora’s perfect bodyform is barely covered in scintillating ascender-tech fabric. The thing is, I’ve never so much as kissed Lenora. Except in my dreams, which really shouldn’t count against me. Any seventeen-year-old guy would have those kinds of thoughts. But the truth is Kamali’s not wrong to judge me.
My feelings for Lenora have always been… complicated.

Capture by Rachel Van Dyken

Release Date: August 20, 2015
~SYNOPSIS~

Losing your ability to speak at the age of seventeen; it’s not normal or fair.
But trauma, has a way of throwing normality out the window.

Dani lives anything but a normal life.
Her sister is married to one of the biggest names in Hollywood.
Her best friends are rockstar duo AD2.
And she has more love around her than most people experience in a lifetime.
But that doesn't change the fact their parents are dead.
Or that it's her fault.
It seems her new normal is being a mute, living on the inside, unable to actually communicate on the outside.
That is until Hollywood’s newest heartthrob Lincoln Greene hires her as his assistant for the summer.
He's gorgeous, completely unavailable, and unobtainable.
But that doesn't stop her from wondering...if things were different...would he want her?
If she was whole, would he be the other half?

AMAZON: Capture (Seaside Pictures Book 1)

Jewelz Review~
I always love it when I can return to Seaside with Rachel Van Dyken. Jaymeson and AD2 are some of my favorite book boyfriends and Linc and Zane, who we get to know in Capture, are worthy additions to the Seaside boys. This book intertwines perfectly with the original Seaside series and we even get some "guest appearances" and "guest mentions" from some of Ms Van Dyken's other popular series - what a treat! While it connects with the original series, it can be read as a stand alone. However, if you haven't read the original series, you'll be wanting to when you finish reading Capture.

Dani has had a rough go of it - she's not quite eighteen and yet has gone through more than many people have in a lifetime. Her parents died in a car accident almost a year ago, and then after another traumatic experience, she lost her ability to speak. Her boyfriend and best friend dumped her (and started dating each other) and her older sister, the only remaining family she has, is now married. Granted, she married Jaime Jaymeson - America's favorite British actor - so it's not that bad. Nonetheless, Dani's world has been turned upside down and everyone treats her with kid gloves - not exactly what she wants or needs.

Lincoln Greene, Hollywood's newest heartthrob, is afforded the honor of acting alongside Jaymeson in his new movie that is being filmed in Seaside. Linc needs an assistant and Jay gives his sister-in-law, Dani, the job. Little does anyone know the impact Linc will have on Dani's life.

Capture was a wonderful escape for me. I loved Dani's spunk and Linc's persistance. Zane is the perfect supporting character to Dani and Linc's relationship - a great friend and confidant for Dani, yet a potential competitor to Linc. It was fun to see Alec, Demitri, and Jay in such a protective and even "fatherly" capacity - the Seaside boys are growing up!

~EXCERPT~
“Finally!” Jaymeson pointed at both of us. “Lincoln, show her to her mark. Dani, for this scene you’re simply staring at him like you want to eat him. Think you can do that?”
I nodded.
Any woman could do that.
Most men too.
“Cue music!” Jaymeson called out. “Action.”
A techno mix of AD2’s latest song filled the air as the extras started dancing around us. I stayed glued to the wall while Lincoln delivered his lines to Pris, and then he lifted his head, meeting my gaze.
It’s just a movie. It’s just a movie.
The breath left my chest on one slow exhale as he moved toward me, his body making fluid purposeful movements through the crowd.
My lips parted; my entire body felt heavy as he approached.
He stopped in front of me, his forehead grazing mine as he leaned in a few inches. Our breath mingled as the music and scene faded around me.
“Cut!” Jaymeson yelled.
Holy crap on a cracker. I almost experienced my first stroke — at seventeen.
“You okay?” Lincoln’s eyebrows knit together in concern.
I licked the lipstick from my lips and nodded quickly.
Jaymeson approached. “Time for the kiss, remember kissing, not hockey. Clearly, you were confused earlier.”
Lincoln gritted his teeth and let out a little groan.
I patted his arm and grinned, my way of encouraging him. He seemed to pale more.
My stomach sank.
Maybe it was me.
I was the problem.
Not the kiss, but me. If he’d had trouble kissing my gorgeous sister, how was he going to be able to kiss me?
“Hey…” Lincoln cupped my cheek. “… focus on me, nothing else, alright? It’s only us.”
I nodded.
“You ever been to a party?”
I rolled my eyes.
“Ever made out with a guy at a party that wasn’t your boyfriend?”
I thought about it then slowly shook my head.
“So that’s what this scene is about. It’s about a guy seeing a girl from across the room and wanting her so badly that he’s willing to cheat on his own girlfriend for just one taste. Granted, he’s supposedly drunk and high, but that just takes the romance out of it, doesn’t it?”
He released my cheek and stepped back. “Imagine you’re trying to attract me, make your body as inviting as possible. Hell, just stand there and look at me, and you’ll sell it.”
Sell it. I repeated the words in my mind.
I could do that.
Because I wanted him to kiss me.
It made my heart beat faster.
My blood pump harder.
And for the first time since my parents’ death, I was actually excited about something. Nervous, but excited.
“Okay,” I mouthed.
I must have surprised him again because his eyes darkened, and then he grinned. “One day, Dani. One day I’m going to hear my name coming from that gorgeous mouth of yours, and I’m not going to be held responsible for my actions… damn the consequences.”
My breath hitched.
“Quiet on set! And action!”
There was no warning. Suddenly, Lincoln’s mouth was fused against mine, no teeth, just his soft lips pushing, prodding, moving slowly back and forth until his tongue slid through and made contact with mine.
Heart racing, I opened my mouth enough to deepen the kiss as heat washed over me.
He groaned and dug his fingers into my shoulders then slid his hands down my back and gripped my butt. I let out a squeak of surprise as I flicked his tongue with mine.
“Cut!” Jaymeson yelled.
I kept kissing.
So did Lincoln.
His chest brushed roughly against mine; my breasts ached at the sharp contact. I let out a little hiss at the exact time Linc let out a groan and nudged his knee between my legs.
“Cut!” Jaymeson yelled again.
Slowly, Lincoln pried himself away from me, chest heaving.
“Good enough,” said Jaymeson.
“No,” Lincoln argued without taking his wild grey eyes off me, “I went off script. We need to do it again.”
“The hell you do,” someone mumbled. I wasn’t surprised to see Demetri glaring daggers at Lincoln’s back. Alec was next to Jaymeson, giving him an earful. I noted the strong tick in his jaw.
“Fine.” Jaymeson waved them both off. “We’ll do it again.”
“Take two, and action!”
This time the kiss was slow, languid in its movements. Hot waves of pleasure coursed through my body as his tongue slid seductively pass my lips. His taste, the feel of his mouth was unlike anything I’d ever experienced. Greedily, I moaned, desperate for more of him as I reached for his shirt then fisting it with my hands and tugging him tighter against my body, wanting more contact with him. I felt every plane of muscle as he slowly turned us so his back was semi facing the camera. His knee nudged my legs apart as pressure increased down the middle of my body. I hadn’t really looked long at the script, but I was pretty sure that this wasn’t part of it.
Not that I was complaining.
He rocked into me, my back connected with the wall. With a possessive growl, he nipped my lower lip then started kissing down my neck. Kissing in public had never been my thing — but maybe that was because I’d never kissed Lincoln.
I would kiss him anywhere.
All he needed to do was ask.
Body humming with pleasure, I let out a little gasp as his warm lips met the pulse on my neck. Then his tongue licked where his lips had just been.
His knee rose higher and higher as my body sank onto his; the first contact of his leg had my body screaming with pleasure — just a little higher, just a little more.
“Cut!” someone shouted, though it didn’t sound like Jaymeson.
Suddenly, Demetri was pulling Lincoln away from me and glaring daggers at both of us. “I think you guys got the scene.”
Embarrassed, I looked down, tucking my silky hair behind my ear. Did I really almost just dry hump Lincoln Greene’s leg? In front of about twenty people, including my sister?
“You sure?” Lincoln asked, voice hoarse. I glanced up at him, his chest was heaving with exertion, his lips swollen. “Because I could have sworn I messed up my lines.”
“There are no lines, you bastard,” Demetri muttered under his breath.
“Damn it!” Jaymeson shouted. “Hey, guys, I’m going to need you to shoot it one more time. Remember, Lincoln, you’re supposed to proposition her.”
Lincoln grinned smugly at Demetri.
Demetri didn’t move.

Review ~ Rewakened by Colleen Houck

"A sparkling new novel with a fully imagined world and mythos, and crackling romance! Egyptian mythology has never been this riveting! With sharp dialog and a fun heroine, Reawakened is precisely what you would expect from the author of the incredible Tiger Saga!"--Aprilynne Pike, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of the Wings Series.

The first book in a new multi-book series from New York Times bestselling author, COLLEEN HOUCK, about a teenage girl entangled in an epic Egyptian quest full of romance, adventure, and mythology!

Author Colleen Houck's first series, The Tigers Curse, was a New York Times Bestseller, a USA Today Bestseller, A Publisher's Weekly Bestseller, and A Parents' Choice Award Winner. The Tigers Curse series is also being made into a movie! Adapted by Julie Plec, creator of The Vampire Diaries, and directed by Shekhar Kapur, who directed the Academy-Award winning, Elizabeth.

When seventeen-year-old Lilliana Young enters the Metropolitan Museum of Art one morning during spring break, the last thing she expects to find is a live Egyptian prince with godlike powers, who has been reawakened after a thousand years of mummification.
And she really can’t imagine being chosen to aid him in an epic quest that will lead them across the globe.

But fate has taken hold of Lily, and she, along with her sun prince, Amon, must travel to the Valley of the Kings, raise his brothers, and stop an evil, shape-shifting god named Seth from taking over the world.

From New York Times bestselling author Colleen Houck comes an epic adventure about two star-crossed teens who must battle mythical forces and ancient curses on a journey with more twists and turns than the Nile itself.

Praise for Reawakened:
"The author weaves her story out of Egyptian lore, cinematic magic, selfless love, and . . . is clever enough to remain surprising even to the last sentence."--Kirkus Reviews
"Rick Riordan fans who are looking for another series will delight in this fantasy. VERDICT: An incredibly well-researched novel with an air of mystery and romance."--SLJ
"In this series opener, Houck (the Tiger’s Curse series) introduces a fantasy teeming with Egyptian characters and mythological stories come to life. . . Houck’s moving depiction of the love between Lily and Amon is memorable."--Publisher's Weekly

"Littered with Egyptian mythology and snappy dialogue, this romantic adventure is a good choice
for graduates of Rick Riordan or fans of Houck’s Tiger’s Curse series."--Booklist

Praise for The Tigers Curse Series:

"A sweet romance and heart-pounding adventure . . . In short, Tiger's Curse is magical!"--Becca Fitzpatrick, New York Times bestselling author of Hush, Hush
"

The hot new romance-adventure series of 2011 . . ."--Teen Magazine

“Epic, grand adventure rolled into a sweeping love story . . .” --Sophie Jordan, author of Firelight

Jewelz Review~
I love Colleen Houck! I am a huge fan of her Tigers Curse series (I had the first two books when they were self published) and was so excited for this new book/series to come out.

Reawakened is reminiscent of the Tigers books in that it tells the adventures of a young woman and an ancient prince. So there are similarities - but Reawakened is not simply Tigers Curse set in Egypt. The story of Amon and Lily is unlike any other romance. While they are drawn toward each other
and compelled to help each other, they both struggle against the forces pushing them together. Amon has an effect on Lily that she is not comfortable with - she feels a bit out of control, very unlike herself. By nature, Amon is always trying to do the right thing - he knows that a relationship between them is not realistic. Despite their attempts to remain detached, they find that a bond has been forged between them and that bond will work toward their mutual benefit if they allow it.

The history, mythology, and adventure readers have come to love in Houck's Tigers Series is once again on display in all its glory. Ancient Egypt with its various gods, symbols, and traditions is woven throughout the adventure Amon and Lily find themselves on. There are mummies and gods, pyramids and canopic jars. There are even spells, an evil shabtis, and a grand vizier. Readers will thrill as they journey from New York to Egypt, observe the changes in Lily and Amon as they work against time to perform an ancient ceremony, and witness the sacrifice possible when true, unconditional love exists.

As the opening to a new series, Reawakened is a perfect first act - the stage is set, the characters defined, the conflict introduced, and a twist at the end left dangling like a carrot to ensure you'll pick up book two!
