Review ~ Remember Me
Detective Ben Russo is in trouble. He just can’t remember why. When a car accident lands Ben in the hospital, he can’t recall anything about his life. What he does know is he’s enchanted by a tiny nurse named Tess, but can’t shake the feeling they’re both in danger. After being left at the altar, Tess Jansenn moves to a new town and starts over. When her ex-fiancé, Ben, shows up in the ER where she works with no memory of her, she must decide – tell Ben who he is or let him remember on his own. Can Tess forgive and forget what drove them apart, and when Ben remembers, will the consequences of his choices make it too late for love?
This is the first book I've read by Lara Van Hulzen and I'll just say that I can't wait to read more! Remember Me is the first book in the Men of Honor series. I LOVE that this series is about men of honor - so many books and movies these days feature leading men who are anything but honorable. It's so refreshing to read a romance where the leading man is truly trying to do what is right - even though he may be flawed and may make mistakes along the way.
I immediately fell in love with both Ben and Tess. They are both such strong characters, trying to do what is right and trying to overcome some major difficulties in their lives. Tess is an amazing woman. That she is able to put aside the heartbreak and sorrow she went through in order to help Ben, is nothing short of inspirational. That her friends Mike and Emma are willing to help too is testament to their goodness also. Ben, despite his mistakes, is really a good guy. He's good-hearted and really wants to help others and make his parents proud (especially since their passing).
Spending my Saturday hanging out with Ben, Tess, Mike & Emma was the much needed escape that I needed. Their story is compelling and I'm so glad I was able to finish it in one day (though my house was a bit neglected because of it!) Remember Me is the perfect combination of romance, mystery, and faith.
FYI ~ fairly clean read. No intimacy other than kissing, some mild language, discussion of drugs in a police investigation
