Review ~ Hindsight Series by Kelly Martin

The Hindsight Series by Kelly Martin

Blurb~

Start at the beginning...

You want to know how it all began.

How I fell for her? How I started to love...?

You want to know how I met Oliver Weston. How I grew to hate him? Why I did what I did?

You want to know how it all began?

Because every story has a beginning, doesn't it?

Even mine.

Especially mine.

I loved her. I still do.

And I hated him. Still do.

So this is it. The start. My 'in the beginning'.

This is how an average guy from Oklahoma ended up here... talking to you.

It all started innocently enough. I needed a place to live. Jordan needed a roommate.

It hit me out of the blue.

I only wish it had ended differently.

But we will get to that later.

Start at the beginning... are you sure you are ready?

Jewelz Review~
Out of the Blue is a great suspense/mystery novella. It's one of those books that grabs you right from the start and like all good mystery books leaves you with more questions than answers. I have been a huge mystery fan since I was young - I gobbled up Trixie Beldon and Nancy Drew mysteries any chance I got. While this isn't a sleuthing-type mystery though - I guess it's more of a suspense novella. Either way - I LOVED it.

Walker is new to Lainly and due to some unfortunate and unexpected circumstances he finds himself in need of a place to live. Enter J (Jordan) Rivers who just so happens to need a roommate. Problem solved, right? More like problem just beginning! The thing about reviewing mystery and suspense is that you don't want to spoil it for the reader. So, all I'm going to say is that it's a great book with all the right elements and the perfect balance of questions and answers so that you're left in need of the next book, yet satisfied with the portion you've been given.

Great job Kelly Martin - you've woven a wonderful tale.

FYI ~ This is a clean read with only mild language and no intimate scenes.

NEW RELEASE!!!

Blurb~

I've told you the beginning, and it nearly killed me. I told you how I met Jordan-- J-- about how I fell for her, even though I hadn't planned on it.

Now you want to know about him? About Oliver Weston? The guy with the blackest heart of any man I've ever met?

Fine, I'll tell you. It's what I'm paying you for, isn't it? Doesn't mean I have to like it. Doesn't mean I have to spill my guts.

Except...

I guess it does.

The middle isn't so hard to talk about. I'll tell you how I defended J's honor, how I went to jail for her, our time in the women's room at the jailhouse-- we'll get to that.

I'll tell you what kind of man Oliver Weston really is... what sort of idiot I truly am.

I loved her.

He knew it.

He used it to blackmail me into one of the worst decisions of my life.

I trusted him.

I trusted the Devil.

And J paid.

Jewelz Review~
Ahh... the sequel to Out of the Blue. Readers please know that you MUST read book one first. There is no way you'll be able to make sense of book two without starting at the beginning. The Black Heart picks up the story where Out of the Blue left off. This is the "middle" of Walker's story. This is where we get what I'd call the "meat" of the story. In the first book we learn the "who", now we learn the "when, where, & some of the what". We even learn some of the "how". Book three, Red Scarlet, should give us the "why" and I have a feeling there's more "what" along with the introspection that comes with hindsight.

I'm really enjoying this series. The approach is quite clever - a little stream of conscious (but not difficult to follow at all), a "hindsight" perspective/POV, along with the "beginning, middle, end" presentation. Even the colors attached to each book provide an appropriate symbolism that encapsulates the tone of the individual books. Details are important in telling a story - they're essential in mystery/suspense and Kelly Martin has done a beautiful job with the details.

Red Scarlet cannot come soon enough!

FYI~ This is a clean read with only mild language and no intimate scenes (but some reference is made). I received an ecopy of The Black Heart from the author in exchange for an honest review.
