a bargainedA Bargained-For Bride by Marcia Lynn McClure (Novella)
Excerpt
“You’re the sweetest girl in Mourning Dove Creek, you know?” Jack mumbled as he paused in kissing Jilly a moment.
Jilly smiled. “And you’re the handsomest man in Mourning Dove Creek, you know,” she flirted in return.
Jack smiled. “I do know,” he said.
Jilly giggled. Jack Taylor was so predictable—and a little conceited. He really did think he was the handsomest man in Mourning Dove—and he was, for the most part.
Secretly, however, if Jilly ever allowed herself to be completely honest about it (which she tried to avoid), there was one other man in Mourning Dove who always crossed her mind when the subject of the handsomest man in town arose. Yet there was no lingering on thinking of that man—no sirree! Not for a moment! Not for any reason—ever. And so Jilly just kept telling Jack that he was the handsomest man in Mourning Dove Creek. Besides, it was almost true—being that the other man lived outside of town and not right in town the way Jack did.
Tifferz Take~

I feel Marcia does her best work with a historical western romances. I really loved this sweet romance! Boone is our hero and seems to be running off to save the day. Jilly is raised by her grandparents after they died in a train crash. It is funny how grandparents seem to know best.  I liked the easy banter between Jilly's grandparents.  When Boone asks for Jilly's hand in marriage. And a quick marriage is made. Can a  marriage that starts in pity turn into something more? One of my favorite parts of the story is the orange gift when Jilly and Boone where younger.  It pulled at my heart. Another memorable event  I was cracking up over was  the boys skinny dippin'. This is a fun, simple romance that will have your heart a fluttering. This is  a quick historical romantic escape MLM style!

Just FYI~ This does contain some swearing, but NO sexual situations.

Chelz Review~

A Bargained For Bride is a sweet novella, that is perfect for a lazy afternoon.  I enjoyed the story of Boone and Jilly, both orphaned at a young age and the deep admiration they had for each other over the years.  This is typical Marcia Lynn McClure book with the hero walking around without a shirt and his powerful kisses.  My favorite part of the story was when Jill watches Boone sleep after his long ride with the posse.  Ms. McClure gave us a sweet story without a lot of drama.
