Like the Wind by J. Adams

Like the Wind

Blurb~
Mariah Kennedy and Mason Malone have been best friends since high school. And she has loved him for that long. Afraid to share her feelings with him, she buries them inside, hoping to one day find the courage to admit what is in her heart.

To Mason, Mariah is like the wind, a force blowing around him that he secretly wishes he could hold onto. Having kept his feelings for her hidden for years, he finally decides to confess his love for her.

Then something happens that makes them both wish they had not waited so long to act on a love that carries the force of a hurricane–a love forever in motion, and powerful enough to endure forever

Tifferz Take~
Really cute, sweet story with some twists that I did not expect!Mariah and Mason seem to have a natural relationship. They just never seem to tell the other that they love them. But, they show it in all they do for the other. Some times we have to almost loose the one we love to not have regrets. I liked how two best friends finally tell the other they love the other. A lovely short story that can be enjoyed anytime.

Just FYI~ This does not contain any swearing or sex!

Just a little faith by Amy J Norris

Blurb~
An opportunity for love and a challenge of faith.

Paxson Taylor’s recent relocation to St. Louis leads her to a life different from what she’s experienced in the past. Through her work with a small charity, she meets and attracts the attention of professional baseball player, Sebastian Quinn. Flattered, Pax tempers her desire for the handsome playboy with her need to serve her God—a God Seb doesn’t believe exists. Through unspeakable tragedy, they grow closer and with disappointment, drift apart. How can two people from opposite ends of the faith spectrum reconnect when they need each other most?

Tifferz Take~
This is a well written story about Pax and Seb. Seb is a star baseball player who needs to do some charity work to improve his image. Pax works for the charity that Seb.'s agent is looking at going with. That is how they meet. Though to Pax's surprise, Seb found her different in a good way and wants to get to know her better. So, little by little Seb starts changing. Pax keeps being herself and inviting him to do things such as go to the hospital with him to visit kids. I think the moment goes into the hospital room impacted him more than he thought it would. I like that the kids encouraged Pax to sing. It is part of her and I don't think she really wanted to share that with Seb. But she did! It was nice to see Seb ask Pax about how important her faith is to her. I think that it was very natural.

Rangy, Linc and Traci make a fun supporting cast! Pax is a good girl and is saving herself for marriage. Seb is not sure what he wants, but has said he does not want marriage. Will Seb. change his mind?  I will say I was shocked by the news Seb. receives from Rick. That was so unexpected. Will Pax be able to help Seb? Will Seb help Pax when she needs it? You need to read it to find out what happens.A delightful and inspiring read.

Just FYI this does not have any sex or swearing in it.

Awakening by Christy Dorrity

~About the Book~

. . . because some Celtic stories won’t be contained in myth.

A little magic has always run in sixteen-year-old McKayla McCleery's family—at least that’s what she’s been told. McKayla’s eccentric Aunt Avril travels the world as a psychic for the FBI, and her mother can make amazing delicacies out of the most basic of ingredients. But McKayla doesn't think for a second that the magic is real—it’s just good storytelling. Besides, McKayla doesn’t need magic. She recently moved to beautiful Star Valley, Wyoming, and already she has a best friend, a solo in her upcoming ballet recital—and the gorgeous guy in her physics class keeps looking her way.

When an unexpected fascination with Irish dance leads McKayla to seek instruction from the mute, crippled janitor at her high school, she learns that her family is not the only one with unexplained abilities. After Aunt Avril comes to Star Valley in pursuit of a supernatural killer, people begin disappearing, and the lives of those McKayla holds most dear are threatened.

When the janitor reveals that an ancient curse, known as a geis, has awakened deadly powers that defy explanation, McKayla is forced to come to terms with what is real and what is fantasy. A thrilling debut novel based in Celtic mythology, Awakening is a gripping young adult fantasy rife with magic, romance, and mystery.

~Excerpt~

She tipped her head, and the candlelight glinted against her silky, honey-brown waves. Her hair had always been his undoing.

When they’d been together, he couldn’t keep his hands away from her hair. Or her face. Her lips, her eyes…

“What was that on your shoulder?” She was speaking and he had to drag his mind away from the past and try to figure out what she was saying.

“My shoulder?”

She crossed the short space between them, hesitating, and touched his shoulder. “Here.”

He nearly choked. She wasn’t supposed to see that. But now the sea foam-green eyes were watching him with open curiosity and her lips were parted... he couldn’t tell her ‘no’. Not then, not now, not ever. He looked away, staring at the floor as he rolled the black sleeve of his shirt.

“Forgive me,” she read in a whisper, her finger tracing the hard black letters tattooed on his arm. Without looking from the words, she said, “When did you get this?”

“After… while you… before you left the hospital.” His entire body shook against her soft touch as she traced the ‘F’ again. Did she realize what she did to him? What she still did to him, even after all this time? No other girl had ever affected him the way she did with just the barest touch of her fingertip.

~Author Bio~

Wendy Knight was born and raised in Utah by a wonderful family who spoiled her rotten because she was the baby. She also enjoys chasing her three adorable kids, playing tennis, watching football, reading, and hiking. Camping is also big: her family is slowly working toward a goal of seeing all the National Parks in the U.S.
You can usually find her with at least one Pepsi nearby, wearing ridiculously high heels for whatever the occasion may be. And if everything works out just right, she will also be writing.

Cosmetic Heart by Kathy Bosman

Blurb~
Lisa works for a top South African magazine as the make-up artist, but writes articles on the quiet. When the chief editor, Daniel, asks for her help in posing as his ex-fiancée to save face with his family, Lisa agrees, hoping to obtain a promotion in return. She doesn’t expect to fall for the handsome editor nor to fit in with his family who love her unconditionally. But Lisa has more secrets, and she doesn’t believe in love and family. After Daniel finds out her secrets, will his forgiveness and determination be enough to cut through all the layers Lisa has put over her heart?

Chelz Review~
Cosmetic Heart is a delightful read that I truly enjoyed.  Lisa is a lady that is stifled in her current position at work.  She, like many of us, has challenges with her family and the natural comparisons and expectations that take place in the family unit.  Dan is a good-looking boss who is extremely intimidating.

When Dan comes to Lisa, who is his make up artist for the magazine he runs, and asks a huge favor of her, the story takes off and sparks start to fly.  There are so many great parts to this story.  I was happy when Lisa dove into the pool and Dan's nieces and nephews fall instantly in love with her and then ask her to help them with their diving.  I LOVED it when Dan said, "Kiss me, my mom's coming".
The wedding rehearsal was great and I thought Lisa would have realized their true love then--but, Lisa is kind of stubborn.  (like most of us ladies are).  The one thing I would have liked to have known earlier in the story was that this took place in South Africa.  I'm not familiar with that country so I would have realized some of the terms being used were common lingo of that country.  It would also have been more clear as to why they would be swimming on New Year's holiday.
Make sure you pick up Cosmetic Heart for your next read.

FYI this is a clean read.

Act Like You Love Me by Cindi Madsen

Blurb~
What would you do for a second chance with your first crush?

Brynn McAdams isn’t the awkward drama geek she was in high school—she’s grown up and confident, or at least she likes to think so. But when her old crush, the impossibly handsome and impossibly unattainable Sawyer Raines, comes back to town to direct her community play, Brynn finds herself determined to be someone other than the girl he doesn’t even recognize. Good thing she’s an excellent actress.

After his bad breakup in NYC, the last thing Sawyer wants is to get involved with another actress. But the glamorous and beautiful Brynn draws him in, even though as her director, he knows she’s off-limits. There’s just something about the woman that feels…familiar. Like home.

As Brynn’s lies start to snowball, she struggles to stop acting and come clean. But what if Sawyer is already falling for the fake Brynn, not the Brynn she truly is?

Tifferz Take~
Love the cover and the book! I liked how Brynn was quarky and  did things her way! Well until her brother tells her differently. So, Brynn  tries things differently with Sawyer when they start dating and are having so much fun. But oh how the lies pile up and we think I will tell him soon. This story is funny. sweet, awkward and just a little heartbreaking. I loved every moment of it and read it in one sitting. Yeah I skipped lunch over this book and it was worth it! My absolute favorite part is when Brynn tells Sawyers mom she loves they guy she is dating!  I look forward from Cindi Madsen.

Falling for her Fiance by Cindi Madsen

Blurb~

Adrenaline-junkie Wes can prove to both his ex and his family that he’s well and truly moved on, and serious-minded Dani can prove to her boss that she’s worthy of the promotion he seems to only want to give to a family-oriented employee.

But amid the fake swoons, fake kisses, and forced proximity, neither expects the very real feelings that develop. There’s nothing more dangerous than falling for your best friend…but what if the landing is worth the fall?

Tifferz Take~
Such a great story! The plot and characters were brilliant! I Loved it. Dani and Wes are best friends and have been since college. They drop everything for one another! That is what a true friend would do. Right?
One of my favorite parts was when Wes and Dani go to dinner with his family. It was such a great moment. The other one was when Wes got lost after turning off the gps! Oh and the basketball scam! But could the latest stunt  take things too far? I just loved everything about this book. I would not change a thing! If you want a page turner pick this baby up! I am off to read book two.

Spell Fire Excerpt My body elongated, and I swore I grew six inches. Inside the cafe, there was no line. Another miracle. I paused beneath the fern‑painted ceiling fan and scanned the wall menu. I wasn't sure what I was looking for, but a weird craving fueled my search. The dragon exerted pressure between my shoulder blades, prompting me. "A Scorpion's Nest smoothie." Morningstar leaned over the high counter and gave me a onceover. "You feeling okay?" I licked my lips. "Absolutely." I had never tasted an orange juice, vanilla ice cream, and peanut butter combo, but I slapped the countertop and said, "I'm fine. Hit me." Morningstar tilted her head to one side and studied me. Oh — crap. Maybe I'm dragon drunk. I wiped the drool from the corner of my mouth stood straighter. I could do this. I could act normal and in control. Behind me, the dragon blew on my hair. I clawed back the stray locks. "Strong ceiling fan." Morningstar glanced up. I held my gaze steady on her face and tried to remember if the fan was actually on. I couldn't hear the whir of its motor or feel the stir of cool air. I can't feel anything. I went for distraction and slipped a ten across the counter. Morningstar leveled her gaze, then handed me my change. "I'll bring the smoothie to your table." "Cool." My eyes crossed. I pivoted and fell out of my right flip‑flop. Fortunately, the place was almost empty, and I didn't think anyone saw me stumble. Still, my face heated as I chose a table with plenty of space behind it for the dragon and my invisible wings. "Mind if I join you for a minute?" Morningstar asked when she brought my drink. "Please." I giggled, giddy with dragon energy. I was a bright, beneficent angel among earthlings. I was — as crazy as my parents feared.

Florence by Ciye Cho

Blurb~
Seventeen-year-old Florence Waverley is out of her depth. Literally. Kidnapped and taken below the waves to the mer world of Niemela, she is the ultimate gift for merman Prince Kiren: a human familiar tied to his side. But nothing is what it seems amid the beauty and danger of a dark ocean.

Every Niemelan has a role to play, from the mermaids who weave towers out of kelp to the warriors who fight sea monsters. But in trying to survive, Florence will end up in the middle of a war between the mer and the Darkness. A conflict that will push her between two brothers: Kiren, the charmer inexplicably drawn to both her and the monsters; and Rolan, the loner who has been pushing her away since the day they met. But in order to take a stand--and find out where she belongs--Florence will have to risk it all: her life, her heart... and her very soul.

Tifferz Take~
I was so excited to read about mermaids! This story did not disappoint. Florence is a misfit in the world and on a school trip to the beach she is kidnapped. Her life is change from that moment on. I was fascinated with all the details under the sea! The descriptions are beautiful to put in mildly. I felt that Ms. Cho captured Florance's feelings perfectly, when she was distressed and trying to comprehend this new world below the surface I felt the same way. The polyp that Florence has to breathe underwater is genius and creative and has other powers as well! I love Yolee. She is Kiren and Rolan's sister the princess! Yolee and Florence form a bond and friendship! Yolee tells Florence all about mer culture.

The world of Niemela is a underwater world has harmony, everyone has a place and purpose. I like that the Niemela had three core values- work, order, and purpose.  Kiren is always friendly toward Florence, but Rolan is not. I loved watching Florence grow and step out of her comfort zone. Florence experiences different adventures not of her choosing. I think I would have felt just as she did.

Florence has real fears one of them being never fitting in. She has struggled with this. I was shocked at the endless twists, turns and unexpected! It was delightful till the last page.  The story left me wanting more. I hope Ciye Cho is writing more of this series! I love this exciting story. Check it out!

Just FYI~
This does not have any swearing or sexual situations.
