The Antique Love by Helena Fairfax

The Antique Love
A story of hidden passions

One rainy day in London, Wyoming man Kurt Bold walks into an antique shop off the King’s Road and straight into the dreams of its owner, Penny Rosas.  Penny takes this handsome stranger for a romantic cowboy straight from the pages of a book.   Kurt certainly looks every inch the hero…but he soon brings Penny’s dreams to earth with a thump.  His job is in the City, in the logical world of finance—and as far as Kurt is concerned, romance is just for dreamers.  Events in his childhood have shown him just how destructive love can be.  Now he’s looking for a wife, right enough, but what he wants is a marriage based on logic and rational decisions.  Kurt treats Penny like he would his kid sister, but when he hires her to help refurbish his beautiful Victorian house near Richmond Park, it’s not long before he starts to realise it’s not just his home she’s breathing life into.  The logical heart he has guarded so carefully all these years is opening up to new emotions, in a most disturbing way…

About the Author
Helena Fairfax was born in Uganda and came to England as a child.  She’s grown used to the cold now and that’s just as well, because nowadays she lives in an old Victorian mill town in Yorkshire.  She has an affectionate, if half-crazed, rescue dog and together they tramp the moors every dayone of them wishing she were Emily Brontë, the other vainly chasing pheasants.   When she’s not out on the moors you’ll find Helena creating romantic heroes and heroines of her own, or else with her nose firmly buried in a book, enjoying someone else’s stories.  Her patient husband and her brilliant children support her in her daydreams and are the loves of her life.

Chelz Review~
The story Anique Love by Helena Fairfax was a joy to read!!!!!  I loved Penny and respected her level head and protection of her heart.  She is a great heroine and I am so glad she did not settle.  Kurt is in such control of his life and his emotions.  I enjoyed watching him always do the right thing but never admit, or realize his feelings.  My favorite part of the story was when Penny was out for "girls night out" with her friends and they see Kurt and his associates.  It was great to read about how Kurt was so put out by Alex's flirting with Penny.  I Loved this story and recomend that it makes it to the top of your reading list.  Enjoy!!!!!

CJz Review~
The Antique Love is an easy to read romance about two very different people who happen to meet in an antique shop of all places. Penny is the owner of an antique store in London and Kurt comes in one day and she is convinced he is a cowboy. He is actually a big wig finance guy and not a cowboy at all. Penny is intrigued by Kurt and vice versa. The two couldn't be more dissimilar! Penny wants love and romance while Kurt wants practicality in a relationship, not love. I really loved the background story for Penny, which explained a lot about her insecurities. In turn, Kurt's background explained why he went about life and relationships in such a practical manner. The story and relationship between Penny and Kurt unfolds nicely and nothing is rushed. The ending seriously made me smile, it was not predictable! This is an easy read that will leave you smiling and I would definitely read another book by Helena Fairfax!
