Fall For You: A Modern Retelling of Pride & Prejudice (The Jane Austen Academy Series #1) by Cecilia Gray

Jane Austen meets Pretty Little Liars in this fresh, new young-adult series!

To say Lizzie and Dante are polar opposites is the understatement of the century. He's a snooty Exeter transfer with more money than Google. She's a driven study-a-holic barely keeping up with tuition. It's obvious that Dante thinks he's way too good for Lizzie. And Lizzie knows Dante is a snob with a gift for pushing her buttons.

But things are changing fast this year at the Academy. And when Lizzie's quest to stop those changes blows up in her face, taking her oldest friendship with it, she has nowhere else to turn but to Dante, with his killer blue eyes, his crazy-sexy smile, and his secrets... Secrets Lizzie can't seem to leave alone, no matter how hard she tries...

CJz Review:

When I read the summary for this book, I knew that I wanted to read it.  I am a huge Jane Austen fan and I love Pride and Prejudice!  Fall For You does not disappoint!  A modern-day twist of the Jane Austen classic, Fall For You will leaving you wanting more!  This book is an easy read and one you will not want to put down!  The story pulled me in right from the beginning and I enjoyed getting to know each character.  I love a book that doesn't drag and flows right along and this book does just that!  This is a five star novel for me and one I recommend for any Austen fan or any romance fan!  I am excited that this is the beginning of a series and am excited for the next one!

Tifferz Take~
I read the blurb and was so excited to read this modern day retelling of Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice! I went into this book with high expectations and they were all met! Lizzie makes a choice right off that bat that changes the course of her current year at school. She learns a lot about people and that her initial judgment could be off. I Loved spunky Lizzie the managing editor of the school paper who gets to the bottom of things and change happens. Dante is an amazing character and I liked how standoffish he was in the beginning. I liked getting to know him. Dante's sister Georgiana has history and Dante means well in wanting to protect her. I liked seeing how friendships change and evolve throughout the story.

The flow and plot of this story was awesome. This book does not have any lulls. I hate when a story drags. You will not find that here. My favorite part is the tree and the end of the book. This story totally rocks and is super sweet! I read this story and was left wanting more. Now off to read book two about Ellie!

just fyi~ this story doesn't have any sexual content or swearing

Jewelz’ Review:
This is the first in the Jane Austen Academy series which chronicles a group of girls attending the prestigious Jane Austen Academy in California. The Academy has recently gone through a few significant changes: it’s under new ownership (a mysterious unknown) and the once all-girls-school has now doubled its student body and admits (heaven forbid) BOYS!

Lizzie is none-to-thrilled by the drastic changes taking place at her beloved Academy and is determined to find out who the new owners are and to put a stop to future changes such as changing the name of the school. As Lizzie starts the new school year she faces obstacles and challenges not only as she tries to expose the intentions of the new owners, but also as she tries to navigate the social waters of the new demographics at the academy.

Dante is the tall, handsome, brooding type who has the audacity to sit in Lizzie’s seat. Of course she notices him – and of course she can’t stand him. But, why is he the one who offers to help Lizzie find out who the new owners of the academy are? Why do Lizzie’s thoughts and feelings betray her – she doesn’t like Dante!

What a fun and enjoyable read this turned out to be! It’s fun, light-hearted, and a quick read. Just enough mystery and sweet romance were thrown in to make things interesting. I love that it’s loosely based on our beloved Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I think Ms. Gray found a winning recipe here for a series: re-telling classic Austen stories in a modern-day boarding school setting. If you want a quick and delightfully fun read – I would definitely recommend Fall for You!

Chelz' Review:
I have to start out by saying, "I Love re-makes and stories that reference Jane Austen."  This was an easy read and I found myself smiling often through-out the story.  Lizzie is a great heroine that has her junior year at the Jane Austen Academy all planned out.  Challenges come when Lizzie first arrives and she quickly has to choose what is most important to her.  I was pleased that as the story progresses Lizzie puts aside her previous judgments about Anne and Emma.  Dante is fabulous from beginning to end.
I felt the story ended too fast.  I would really have liked "more."  Another chapter to finish Lizzie and Dante before the lead in to Ella's story.
This is a great read that I will definitely pick up again soon.

  1. Hello Tifferz et al.! Glad to "meet" you Cecilia on this blog today. I haven't got any of your Jane Austen Academy books yet, so decided to take a chance on your romance! :-) I like what the blurbs and reviews say...and I'm a romance sounds good to me.
