Since childhood Sara has lived with the reality of being ugly. Something her awful family never ceased to remind her. After her sisters run off to Gretna Green, she's left with one choice—go to London and take their place for a Season. It's up to her to marry well and save her family from financial ruin.

A distant aunt decides it’s in her best interest to sponsor Sara for the season and help her snag a husband by any means possible.

Nicholas Devons, Earl of Renwick, is a retired rake and consequently bored with life. He’s given up beautiful women and carnal pleasures. Desperation makes him decide to give his massive fortune away and marry the first country girl he sees.

Lucky for Sara she's that girl. Unlucky for Nicholas, he's to be her new tutor in the ways of the ton. Two waltzes, one masquerade, a violent carriage ride, and two duckless ponds later.... and all that's left is a fun twist on one of the oldest stories ever told.

Objects of my affection by Jill Smolinski

Blurb~
Lucy Bloom is broke, freshly dumped by her boyfriend, and forced to sell her house to send her nineteen-year-old son to drug rehab. Although she’s lost it all, she’s determined to start over. So when she’s offered a high-paying gig helping clear the clutter from the home of reclusive and eccentric painter Marva Meier Rios, Lucy grabs it. Armed with the organizing expertise she gained while writing her book, Things Are Not People, and fueled by a burning desire to get her life back on track, Lucy rolls up her sleeves to take on the mess that fills every room of Marva’s huge home. Lucy soon learns that the real challenge may be taking on Marva, who seems to love the objects in her home too much to let go of any of them.

While trying to stay on course toward a strict deadline—and with an ex-boyfriend back in the picture, a new romance on the scene, and her son’s rehab not going as planned—Lucy discovers that Marva isn’t just hoarding, she is also hiding a big secret. The two form an unlikely bond, as each learns from the other that there are those things in life we keep, those we need to let go—but it’s not always easy to know the difference.

Tifferz Take~
I want to say first off that the cover of this book is so cute and fun! I was sold on this story by the cover and blurb and Ms. Smolinski pulled off a cool story. Lucy is a mom that loves her son and seems to let tragic things pass her by. I think for her to cope she puts up walls. I saw Lucy grow as a Mom, friend and lover. It was nice to see her take the steps she needed. I was laughing as Lucy and Marva get to know each other and develop a friendship. Daniel is a great guy and Nelson cracked me up. I also was pleased with Marva and her growth and healing she has to patch up with Will.  Ms. Smolinski also throws in twists that had me feel an array of emotion! I really liked this story. I hope that Ms. Smolinski will keep writing. I felt Ms. Smolinski could keep this story going. I had plenty of closure but I still want more. I want to know more about Lucy, Daniel and Ash. I look forward to reading more by Jill Smolinski.

Lost Indian Gold by Robert G. Rogers

Blurb~
Spud, an eleven year old, gets hopelessly lost in the swamp, but makes himself a camp and sets out to survive. While he's surviving, he has a confrontation with a hungry alligator and some close shaves with two bullies, even takes a swim in an underground river. But, his luck isn't all bad. He makes friends with two girls his age, Laura and Suzy. Not only that, he overhears the bullies talk about gold buried someplace in the swamp, maybe on a sacred island. That gold would mean a new farm for his Mama and Papa. They had just been evicted.

The girls and Spud team up with an Indian man and his son, Cricket, to find the gold. Spud finds the "sacred island," but no gold. Just some old leather skins marked with strange symbols. Then, thanks to the two bullies, he ends up in a traveling circus as a "wild boy." And, something happens that makes him believe he knows exactly where that gold is buried. Laura and Suzy help rescue him and they head into the swamp to find the treasure. Unfortunately, the two bullies are close on their trail.

Tifferz Take~
I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure that Spud unexpectedly embarked on. I thought Spud was clever and made due with what he was dealt. I liked when Spud met Laura and Suzy and then fell in the lake when he caught the fish. I also liked the hunt for the gold. The story also had a few surprises along the way.

The downside is the time frame I think was a little off. It took place September to November and it felt like it was still summer. I think it would have been better taking place June to September. I recall Spud only wearing shorts and shirtsleeve shirt. I would think the rivers and Spud would have been cold. I also wish more  detail was given on wear Spud got the materials needed to trap rabbits.  This was a very fun story that I enjoyed. I also think my daughters 12 and 10 would also enjoy this read.

Blurb~

Jessie Jones is living the life--except for the fact that she earns it by working the streets. She's been under pimp Spence's thumb for fourteen years, and she isn't looking to change it. That is, until undercover cop Gabe walks into her life and offers her something she's never had before: a love, a future, a home. But even if Jessie could walk away from Spence, there are darker forces of evil who want her to stay put, or worse, dead.

In this romantic suspense, author Heather Huffman delivers an adventure from the vibrant streets of St. Louis to the caves of the Ozarks as Jessie discovers whether she can love another, whether she can love herself, and whether any of it is enough.

The Sentence by Elaine Cantrell

Blurb~
How could he do it!  How could her father bring the guy who burned the church into their home for six months?  Yeah, it was an accident and her dad’s a minister, but if he wanted to save this man’s soul why didn’t he go to the prison to do it?  Spoiled and slightly judgmental, Rachel has almost as much to learn as their unwilling guest.

Tifferz Take~
I found the plot of this story different and I was pleased by how it turned out! Rachel is upset with her parents for letting the man who burned their church to the ground live with them instead of going to jail. I found Rachel to be likable and I related to her very well. I could see her point of view and how she had some things to learn. I think most people make a quick judgement before they completely understand the whole situation like Rachel does.

Clint is a rough guy who has his own set of issues. When he moves in with the Amons family he makes some changes that are hard for him at first. Clint starts to learn a of new things and sees he does have options. This is a christian romance filled with learning of forgiveness, learning to come unto Christ and learning to love. I loved seeing how people can change. This story was a good reminder to not be quick to judge and that deep down everyone has good in them! I am wondering if Ms. Cantrell is going to write Bud's story. Bud is Clint's best friend. I felt like she set it up nicely. I would love to read it if you write it Ms. Cantrell.

I have to say I loved Mrs. Jones. I think everyone needs a Mrs. Jones in their lives. A lovely romance that inspires! I will be on the hunt for more from Ms. Cantrell.

The one thing I did find that was the time frame was not always consistent. Rachel and Clint would at different times reference an event as weeks ago when it was months ago.

For Love of Angel by J. Adams

Blurb~
Angel Hughes was only a year old when her parents were killed in an airplane crash while traveling from England to the United States for a vacation. Her mother's aunt moved into their flat and raised Angel, showering her with all the love she could. But despite the love Angel felt for her aunt, she still missed her parents.

In time, the little girl grew into a beautiful and accomplished young woman with a musical talent that everyone declared was a gift. One day Angel meets a young man from the United States who completely captures her heart.

Wanting Angel to be a part of his life, Mitchell Greenland convinces her to attend college in his hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. Little does Angel know how her decision to move to the states will affect her life, nor could she ever guess the joys and pains that await her.

Tifferz Take~
A beautiful story of young love! Angel and Mitch have love at first sight and become inseparable. She goes to North Carolina from England to study. She meets Ian Crawford and they have an instant connection. It was fun to find out what happened. Ms. Adams has captured a thought provoking romantic tale along with a little mystery. If you like a sweet romance then I think you will love this story. I sure did.

Just FYI this does not contain any swearing or sex.

Lilac Wedding in Dry Creek by Janet Tronstad

Blurb~
When she ran away from the juvenile home she was raised in, Cat Barker left more than an unstable childhood behind. She also left her first love, Jake Stone. The two had more in common than anyone understood, but neither knew how to trust. Now Cat needs help, and there's only one person she can turn to—Jake, her daughter's secret father. Though Cat can see the tender man she once cared for, she still fears love and marriage. Until a daunting challenge renews her faith—and teaches them all a lesson about trust

Tifferz Take~
I loved this story! Cat is scared for herself and daughter. She needs to make sure the father of her daughter will take care of her if anything happens to her when she has surgery. I found Jake to my liking. It was also refreshing to see him realize he needs help from others and that you do not always need to pay for help. I liked how he was pushy but took charge when he needed. I also loved the ending. I will say I got choked up towards the end and I liked how things were not always smooth sailing. I look forward to reading more from Janet!

Single-minded (Single Girls, book three) by Veronica Blade

Blurb~
For years, Laynie's been trying to kill her crush on her brother's best friend, Josh — who treats her like a little sister. Things take a turn to the delicious side when Josh gets her in a lip-lock. Now she can't think about going to prom with anyone else. But hoping for love from the king of fast-and-loose hookups will only lead to heartbreak. Or will it?

Tifferz Take~
I have loved all three of the  Single Girls books and I think this might be my favorite. Single Minded is a delightful teen read that had me hooked from page one. I like the plot of Laynie having a crush on her older brothers best friend Josh. I like how Laynie had doubts and was trying to figure things out. I felt like I could relate to Josh and Laynie. It just puts a smile on my face. This was a great little escape for me! I will be reading this series again. I felt like I was swept back to High School with my two best friends. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did.

The Syrenka Series Arise by Amber Garr

Arise (Book 3)

"With power comes the responsibility to accept its consequences.
After the betrayal of those closest to her, Eviana Dumahl struggles to cope with her new reality.  Kidnapped, broken, and confused, she is forced to engage in a war that will alter merfolk politics forever.  With her estranged father leading the charge, Eviana has no choice but to stand by his side.  Her continued existence hinges on the acceptance of the power growing inside her, even when that means embracing the family’s dark lineage.
Kain Matthew will sacrifice the world for Eviana.  And he is not alone.  As time runs out, her friends fight to save her life and theirs.  An unlikely alliance gives them the edge they need to take a stand, although it keeps Eviana’s heart trapped in the past.  A new discovery explains some of her previous mistakes, but it may not be enough to stop her father’s plans.  Merfolk, selkies, and water sprites work together to save their kind, only in this final battle, not everyone will survive."
Tifferz Take~
So, Eviana's and Kain's journey continues and not how I was expecting! I was entrapped into this third story and not let go till the last word was read. Ms. Garr has truly surpassed my expectations. She was not afraid to have bad things happen. I think they needed to happen and it was done with finesse! I enjoyed  the ups and downs and the curve ball! I felt elated when Eviana figured things out and acted exactly how I wanted her to! I have to say her father is crazy and power hungry.  I  I finished this book a happy girl! I have a strong appreciation for Kain and how patient and sweet his is with Eviana.  I will be looking for more from Ms. Garr as each book she writes is better than the last and I loved the first one. Ms. Garr can only go to the top! I hope you have many more stories to tell Ms. Garr. The Syrenka Series is simply enchanting!

Singled Out (Single Girls, book two) by Veronica Blade

Blurb~
This is a very short story of appx 40 pages.

Brittany’s short-lived fling with the insanely hot Wyatt left her seething, despite still liking him. Since he barely glances her way anymore, going to prom alone seems far better than going with some loser. But Brittany's well-intentioned friends haven’t given up on Wyatt, and they’re intensifying their matchmaking tactics!

Tifferz Take~
Singled Out is a fun YA read.  It was just the escape I needed for the day! Brittany is a typical teen who still likes Wyatt but does not want to admit it. I think her friends have it right and want to help even when Brittany does not want the help. I really liked this story and it was like going back to high school. I hope you like it as well. I am excited to read book 3 Single Minded. I really like the three friends and seeing how things work out for each girl!

Just fyi this has no sex or swearing it it.

Tifferz Take~
This story is  funny and light hearted story filled with some stubborn characters and misunderstandings.
Minnie and Gordon will keep you entertained throughout this story. I did think it was sad to find out the why Minnie and Gordon had history and the story behind it. But second chances do come around and sometimes if you play your cards right things work out. Read it to find out what happens.

Sam is in for a life change when she is down on her luck she gets the break she needs. This inspiration romance that is filled with mystery and suspense had me hooked till the last word was read. I truly felt this story was well thought out and had a message of Gods love for each and everyone of his children. It was nice to watch Sam and Noah relationship grow. Noah learning to trust and Sam having someone love her no matter what. I also liked watching Sam come to know Jesus. Ms. Ball did an awesome with putting in some of the unexpected to this story. The Legend of Mickey Tussler and Sophomore Campaign (the sequel)

Blurb~
In the late 1940s, the minor league Milwaukee Brewers are foundering yet again and manager Arthur Murphy is desperate. When he sees seventeen-year old Mickey Tussler throwing apples into a barrel, he knows he has found the next pitching phenom. But not everyone is so hopeful. Mickey’s autism—a disorder still not truly understood even today—has alienated the boy from the world, and he is berated by other players and fans. Mickey faces immense trials in the harsh and competitive world of baseball while coping with the challenges inherent to his disorder. An honest and knowledgeable book about overcoming adversity, and the basis for the television movie A Mile in His Shoes, Mickey’s powerful story shows that with support and determination anyone can be triumphant, even when the odds are stacked against him.

Blurb~

It’s 1949 and eighteen-year-old pitching phenom Mickey Tussler is back with the rejuvenated minor league Brewers in the sequel to The Legend of Mickey Tussler (the basis for the television movie A Mile in His Shoes). Despite Mickey’s proclamation that he will never play baseball again after last season’s violent conclusion, his manager—and now surrogate father—Arthur Murphy cajoles the emotionally fragile, socially awkward boy with autism into giving it another shot. Mickey reluctantly returns to the field and must once again cope with the violence and hatred around him. When a young African American player joins the team, the entire team is subjected to racial threats and episodes of violence, one of which Mickey witnesses firsthand. Struggling to understand such ugliness and hatred, and fearful of reprisal should he tell anyone about what he has seen, the boy’s performance on the field suffers. Mickey now must deal with a side of human nature he scarcely comprehends.

A Very Southern Affair by Elaina Lee

Blurb~
Convinced everyone she falls in love with will end up six feet under, Hollee isn’t looking for a relationship when Mr. Kaiden Thorne shows up in front of her bridal agency. She’s just looking for a way to save her small southern town from going bankrupt, and he’s the only person who can make sure that happens. Hollee is in for more than she bargains as her attraction to Kaiden takes over and the city begins to show just how far they’ll go to make sure big changes don’t come to their small town.

Kaiden agreed to come to the tiny community for one reason: To salvage what’s left of his career. Mistake’s begin repeating themselves the second he lays eyes on Hollee, however. If he can’t make the project work and keep his hands off her, his second chance will be gone forever. He learns quickly though, he’ll need patience in more ways than one when it comes to Belleville, Alabama.

Tifferz Take~
First off I think the cover is so cute and the story as well. I was cracking up with all the creative things that happened to Kaiden. I also was laughing at some of the things Hollee does. Like the vintage dress and the bridesmaids dress. I can still imagine Kaiden's face when he rolls into this small town in Alabama and finds an interesting welcome from the town he will probably never forget. You will just have to read the story to find out. I thought the end was the best. I always love a story that leaves you happy and maybe a little giggly.

I did find that some questions did not get answer resolved. Like did Hollee every tell Kaiden about what really happened with Teddy. I think that it is important in a relationship. She seemed to avoid the topic. I would really like to have Estelle's story told. I want her to have a happy ending as well.

Just FYI this book does contain detailed foreplay, sexual situations before marriage and swearing.

Bound by Blood by Tara Manderino

Blurb~
In his two-hundred and fifty years as a vampire, Alex only observed, never intervened with any of his progeny, yet what else can he do when a little girl of his lineage is kidnapped? When he meets Lisa, the child’s nanny, his protective instincts kick into gear, yet he finds he must expose her to ever increasing danger as they search for the missing child. To protect Lisa from perils she is unaware of, he harbors her in his own home.

With Lisa’s help, Alex is able to determine who has the child. Learning why she was abducted rocks him on his heels and sets off a transcontinental search that leads to ancient myths of the Cardinal’s Ruby; the stone in Alex’s ring.

Alex and Lisa have one shot to save the child, but will they be able to stop the impending destruction raining down?

Tifferz Take~
Bound by Blood is not your typical vampire story. Lisa is a nanny for the Morgan's little girl Sandy. Sandy is kidnapped from a park. We meet Alex as he is hot FBI agent. I liked Lisa's protective nature of Sandy right off the bat. Lisa just wants to get Sandy back. Alex is mysterious and has his heart in the right place. He is used to telling people what to do and have them listen. Lisa does not always listen. The Morgans you can tell not everything is on the up and up with them. Louis is a friend of Alex and adds some fun to the mix.  I liked significance of the ring and that to uncover the mystery Lisa needed her dads help. They all had to work as a team. This was not a one man show. To me when Lisa gave Alex the ring back ~how she got it back was unrealistic. I also thought that Mr. Morgan would have been more worried about Sandy. The whole pretense that she was with Lisa that everything would be fine just does not fly with me. It was also a bit hard to keep up with the time in the book. I honestly thought I had things figured out but Ms. Manderino sure knows how to throw in the unexpected. This action packed adventure filled with mystery and a hint of romance held my attention. I simply had to know how things turned out.

I honestly think this story could have been magnificent if it had a proper editor. I also found I had some questions after the story was over For example~ How did Sandy react when she went home? What did she remember? What did she tell her father? What happened with Lisa and Alex? Did Lisa go home to England and mend the broken rift with her parents? Did Lisa's dad and the Phil get to talk? What happened to Louis? I felt things ended and things were not tied up.

I also felt that things were not always consistent for example Alex tells Lisa how to kill vampires and then later she says she has no clue how to kill a vampire. I am still a huge fan of Ms. Manderino and look forward to reading many more stories she has written. It truly amazes me how she can write so many different types of stories.

The Cinderella Project Blog Tour

Blurb~
Committed to saving his marriage before it starts, doctoral student Nick Cairn embarks on a project aimed at finding the secrets of everlasting love. But when Moire DeLanthe, a smart and sassy research assistant, enters the picture, his Happily Ever After is put to the ultimate test.

Tifferz Take~
This blurb caught my attention and was excited to read this story. It held my interest and I really liked Nick he was honest, loyal and over all a good guy. I was surprised with his relationship with Ella. And I did have a few moments where I wanted to kill him. But that has happened in a number of stories I have read. I liked Moire and her sassy personality and how kind she is. The twist in the story was predictable. It was fun to see how Moire and Nick interacted. This story does not contain any sex or swearing. I would happily hand it over to anyone to read! It is a sweet romance.

Crimson (The Silver Series book 3) by Cheree L. Alsop

Blurb~
Crimson, the third book of the Silver Series, is about a teenage boy who dies in a car accident and awakens a werewolf. Burdened with heavy guilt over his sister’s death in the same accident, Kaynan escapes with a blind girl named Grace who gives him purpose and direction. They seek shelter with a pack of werewolves who brave dangerous odds to help them. Kaynan is given the ultimate chance to make up for his poor decisions, but dying again might be the only way to redeem himself.

Crimson is a story of love and redemption amid danger and violence, a story where acceptance of change may be the only way to survive.

Tifferz Take~
In Crimson we meet some new werewolfs and they have a bond and take care of each other. We still see Jaze, Jet, Mouse, Nikki and the other from book 1 and 2. Ms. Alsop does a great job of developing those characters as well through out the story. I really enjoy that Kaynan and Grace have choices to make and issues to deal with. I stayed up passed one in the morning as this story consumed me and I knew I would not be able to sleep without knowing what happened. One of my favorite parts is the hair coloring session. It just cracked me up.
This story does contain violence (but it is tastefully written and I did not have any nightmares) It has nothing more than a few kisses. I did think some of the fight scenes were a bit much (as in I did not think it was realistic) and it amazed me how the SUV they drove was in several accidents and never needed to be repaired. But other than that the story was awesome. I totally recommend this series that is unique and keeps you wanting more!

Tiger's Destiny by Colleen Houck

Blurb~
The fourth book in the bestselling series

available September 4,2012.

With three of the goddess Durga's quests behind them, only one prophecy now stands in the way of Kelsey, Ren, and Kishan breaking the tiger's curse. But the trio's greatest challenge awaits them: A life-endangering pursuit in search of Durga's final gift, the Rope of Fire, on the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal.

It's a race against time--and the evil sorcerer Lokesh--in this eagerly anticipated fourth volume in the bestselling Tiger's Curse series, which pits good against evil, tests the bonds of love and loyalty, and finally reveals the tigers' true destinies once and for all.

Tifferz Take~
Full Disclosure: I am a HUGE fan of Colleen Houck and have been from her self published days. What can I say, Colleen has some serious writing skills!

I loved Tiger's Destiny. I think that each book in this series gets progressively better. Ms. Houck has created such real characters that evolve as the series continues.  So, this is book 4 in the series of 5 and in this one the adventures and trials continue as Kelsey, Ren and Kishan set out on the final quest to break the curse.  In Destiny I came to have a better understanding of Lokesh and boy did he creep me out. Along the way  Ms. Houck has created some extraordinary creatures that get your blood moving. Some of my favorites were the Phoenix, Qilin and Rakshasa. The challenge to acquire the Rope of Fire was thrilling and exciting. I liked that the road was not easy, as sacrifices are made and individual growth is attained.  I found myself a little teary eyed. I will tell you I was very happy with the ending and how Ms. Houck set things up for book 5. Ms. Houck has a knack for foreshadowing. So, I always find myself reading her books many, many times. All of the Tiger books have left an imprint on my heart and mind. Tiger's Destiny has done this as well.  If you have not read this series you are missing out on a brilliant, original masterpiece that is unlike anything you have read before. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do.

Chick Lit Lovers’ Labor of Love!

Chick Lit Lovers’ Labor of Love!

For four days over the US Labor Day weekend, 7 of your favorite chick lit writers are offering their books for $.99 to say a huge thank you to all the readers who’ve supported them over the years. Elle Lothlorien, who has coordinated the chick lit lovelies, says, “We’ve had such amazing support from readers over the years. They’ve posted reviews, friended us on Facebook, helped us procrastinate on twitter and sent emails telling us how much they appreciate our work. As a little thank you for all that love, we wanted to give something back to them.”

From Friday, August 31st through Monday, September 3rd, all of these books are $.99 on Amazon.com. You can also spread the love to your friends through Amazon’s ‘give as a gift’ button.

It was his pheromones that did it. With one sniff, sex researcher Leigh Fromm recognizes that any offspring she might have with the mysterious stranger would have a better-than-average chance of surviving any number of impending pandemics.

But when Leigh finds out that the handsome “someone” at her great aunt’s wake is Prince Roman Habsburg von Lorraine of Austria, she suddenly doubts her instincts—not that she was intending to sleep with the guy. The royal house of Habsburg was once completely inbred, insanity and impotency among the highlights of their genetic pedigree. (The extreme “bulldog underbite” that plagued them wasn’t called the Habsburg Jaw for nothing.)

It doesn’t matter that his family hasn’t sat on a throne (other than the ones in their Toilette) since 1918, or that Austria is now a parliamentary democracy. Their lives couldn’t be more different: Roman is routinely mobbed by paparazzi in Europe. Leigh is regularly mocked for having the social skills of a potted plant. Even if she suddenly developed grace, charm and a pedigree that would withstand the scrutiny of the press and his family, what exactly is she supposed to do with this would-have-been king of Austria who is in self-imposed exile in Denver, Colorado?

Can the love of a lifetime be forever changed by one pink line? Dina Silver's tender, absorbing novel, One Pink Line, is the warmhearted, wry story of love, loss and family, as seen through the prism of one singular, spirited young couple who find themselves in a predicament that changes the course of their lives, and those closest to them.

Sydney Shephard, a sweet-tempered, strong-natured college senior is young, in love with an exceptional man, and unexpectedly pregnant. Faced with a child she never planned for, she is forced to relay this news to her neurotic mother, relinquish her youth, and risk losing the love of her life. Then there's Grace, a daughter, who believed she was a product of this great love, grows to realize her existence is not what she assumed, and is left with profound and puzzling questions about who she really is.

Spanning generations and every imaginable emotion, One Pink Line reveals how two points of view can be dramatically at odds, and perhaps ultimately reconciled.

Slave to the rich and the rude, cosmetic surgery receptionist Serenity Holland longs for the day she's a high-flying tabloid reporter. When she meets Jeremy Ritchie -- the hang-dog man determined to be Britain's Most Eligible Bachelor by making himself over from head to toe and everything in between -- Serenity knows she's got a story no editor could resist.

With London's biggest tabloid on board and her very own column tracking Jeremy's progress from dud to dude, Serenity is determined to be a success. But when Jeremy's surgery goes drastically wrong and she's ordered to cover all the car-crash goriness, Serenity must decide how far she really will go for her dream job.

Take one twenty six year old American, add to a two thousand year old city, add a big dose of culture clash and stir.

To think Hannah ever believed that Americans differed from Brits mainly in pronunciation, sophistication and dentistry. That’s been the understatement of a lifetime. She lands upon England’s gentle shores with no job, no friends and no idea how she’s supposed to build the life she’s dreaming of. Armed with little more than her enthusiasm, she charges headlong into London, baffling the locals in her pursuit of a new life, new love and sense of herself.

Being single is tough enough without constantly being asked, "When are you getting married?" Julie Burns, a 32-year-old Hollywood entertainment attorney weary of being asked about her marital status and informed of the dismal statistical reality regarding the matrimonial chances for a single woman of her age, decides to put more effort into her search for a decent man. She is willing to try just about everything, except giving up her standards (for more than one date). The results are disastrous and hilarious. Urged by her friends, she gives a schlemiel she meets on an airplane a chance as well as trying dating services, blind dates, and speed dating. How can a cute, intelligent woman with a great career fail to meet the man of her dreams? Her friends claim she is just too picky, but Julie is just looking for a man with a future.

When a deathbed promise to a friend leaves Wendy Darlin, feisty Miami real estate broker for billionaires, trapped on a super-yacht with Ponzi-king, Charlie Hook, she’s forced to join him on a quest to recover his hidden treasure. Along for the danger-filled adventure are an undercover SEC Investigator, who kindles a spark in Wendy with his ‘Johnny Depp’ eyes and Hook’s young female helicopter pilot who befriends Wendy as they sail the high seas, one step ahead of modern day ruthless pirates.

When Lauren divorces her husband, she has one thought on her mind...stepping off the merry-go-round. However, her life quickly turns into a three-ring circus: her hypochondriac father moves in, her ex is using her shower when she’s not home, and her perky assistant is pushing her out into the fearsome dating world. She also has to decide if the dilapidated barn and vintage merry-go-round she was awarded in the divorce settlement is a blessing or a bane. As if Lauren’s personal life isn’t chaotic enough, this slightly jaded attorney is overrun with a cast of quirky characters who can’t stay on the right side of the law. What’s a woman to do? She can allow life to spin her in circles forever. Or she can reach out and grab the brass ring.

And writers from other genres have joined us to offer their fantastic books for $.99 too through September 3rd. Click here for the full list.

My two-story fall was cushioned by the intruder’s body. He—a vampire, I realized—groaned as I landed on top of him, forcing his body into the muddy ground. I reached for my dagger, but he was quicker. Before I had a chance to pull it out, he slipped out from underneath me, flipping me over so that he was on top. His firm, muscular body pressed tightly against mine as his hands pinned my wrists to either side of my head. His face was covered by shadows, but I could make out a mischievous smirk dancing across perfectly-shaped full lips.

“You’re quite feisty, aren’t you?” he chuckled, bending forward to examine me. Deep, charcoal eyes overflowed with amusement.

He was actually enjoying this.

“I don’t wanna hurt you,” he whispered in a deep, throaty voice. “I’m gonna release you now. Don’t do anything stupid.”

He lifted his arm, removing his right hand from my left wrist. The moment I felt some freedom, I leaped forward, attempting a left hook at his jaw. He blocked my hand, once again pushing it toward the ground.

“I said I wasn’t going to hurt you!” he growled, pinning me even further into the soft, wet earth.

“Yes, but I never said I wouldn’t hurt you,” I snapped.

He brought his face toward mine. “I’d like to see you try,” he whispered.

Challenge accepted.

I raised my head—the only part of my body that wasn't restrained by the stranger’s body—inching my lips closer to his. He tensed for a moment, his eyes searching mine, as if surprised by my sudden change in behavior. Drops of rainwater slid down his chiseled jaw, pausing briefly on his lips before they plummeted onto mine. Then, a slow, smug smile spread across his face. I felt his body relax and he leaned even closer. His breath caressed my skin as his lips drew near.

It was exactly what I needed. Summoning all my strength, I twisted my hips to the side, shooting them up and out, then launching my legs from the ground. Thrown off-balance, my captor groaned and released one of my arms to brace for the fall, giving me the perfect opportunity to reach for my dagger. In one smooth move I darted behind him, placing him in a secure headlock—the blade of my weapon aimed directly at his heart.

“Who are you?” I demanded when I was certain he couldn’t escape my grip.

“I’m a twenty-four-year-old Taurus who enjoys long walks on the beach.” Even though I couldn’t see his face, I could feel his arrogant grin.

“You have ten seconds to explain yourself,” I ordered. “And then I’m really going to hurt you.”

“Oh, come on! Can’t we get back to kissing? You can’t tease a guy like that.”

“Ten, nine…” I pressed the dagger deeper into him, nicking the leather of his jacket.

“Hey! Watch it!”

“Eight…”

“Oh, alright. You’re no fun,” he sighed. “My name is Razor.”

“What kind of a name is that?”

“It’s a nickname.”

“What kind of a nickname is that?”

“Spike, Blade, Fang—all the good, pointy objects were already taken by fictional characters. It was the best I could do.”

A simple mission turned deadly.
