Guest Post and Giveaway!!!!
Blurb
He loves magic. She loves romance. But the biggest illusion is the one Shantel and Christopher perform together. Sixteen- year- old Christopher fights to stay sober while fifteen-year-old Shantel struggles in the aftermath of her mother’s death and seeks refuge in a fantasy world. But the unacknowledged roots of their problems refuse to stay buried and soon, the two are headed toward a deadly magic trick. Can Shantel and Christopher move beyond magical illusions to find love?
The idea for WEAVING MAGIC came from a poetry workshop that I run with teens in detention. You can read about our poetry workshop at http://www.denneypoetry.com/
One of the struggles many of the youth face is how to stay sober and out of trouble. The teens write about how they want to “turn it around,” and start a new life, but it’s not an easy journey for them.
I also get to hear a lot about romance. Both the boys and the girls write poems about their current loves, lost loves, broken or disappointed loves, and hopes and dreams for love in the future. I took those two threads of starting a new life and falling in love and wove them together in WEAVING MAGIC.
But, when I sat down to write WEAVING MAGIC, I didn’t want the story to be a bad boy/good girl story. So, I spun a little twist. By all appearances, main character, Christopher is the “bad boy” trying to stay sober while Shantel is the good girl. However, as the story progresses, you realize that appearances are deceiving and Shantel is the one who has some big problems while Christopher really is trying to do the right thing.
The book is an e-book, available in all formats, and you can buy the book at MuseItUp Publishing. It is coming soon to other on-line bookstores such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
And this week, we’re offering an e-book give-away of WEAVING MAGIC to one lucky winner who posts a comment! Please leave a comment with your email address and say if you are a new or old follower with Google Friend Connect and what format you want a kindle, nook or pdf . I will email the winner with a copy of the ebook! Good Luck!
