Marked in Mexico By Kim McMAHILL
http://www.kimmcmahilll.com/
Blurb- An idyllic Caribbean vacation turns deadly when hostages are taken at one of Mexico’s most popular Mayan ruins. The kidnappers believe the abduction will be a simple way to negotiate the release of a colleague from a Texas prison, but the stakes become much higher when they realize one of their hostages is the daughter of a powerful U.S. Senator and another, an ex-Army Ranger who has no intention of playing by the rules. After a daring escape the Senator’s daughter, Jessica, and the ex-Ranger, Jack, must endure a terrifying manhunt and a desperate fight for survival. While trying to stay alive in the unforgiving jungle they forge a bond that will last a lifetime and find love neither wanted, but were unable to avoid.
Tifferz Take- I think the cover is perfect for this book it is exactly how I picture Jessica. When I read the blurb I instantly wanted to read this book. This is a fast paced book that held my attention. I the author does an outstanding job with developing Jessica, Jack and Megan. I tell you if this ever happened to me I would want Jack to be with me. I think that the author should write book two. I really want to see how things play out in the USA. Things get tied up nicely in the end. But how Ms. McCAHILL left things she could continue the story and I really hope she does. The authors writing flowed very well that at times I felt like I was trying to survive right along with them. This is a book filled with adventure, betrayal, love, abuse, kindness, sickness, sadness, trust, friendship, loyalty and some righteous violence. After reading this book I could still sleep at night. ( I don't like to read things that keep me from sleeping.) This story is sticking with me. I would highly recommend this clean read.
This does contain violence and reference to rape.

guest post and giveaway!
Bryan Cohen here, guest poster and author, promoting my new book The Post-College Guide to Happiness for The Happiness Blog Tour. I'm giving away free digital review copies of the book and doing a giveaway for paperback copies, audio copies and even a Kindle Fire! Read on and check out the info below the post. "Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."
-Marcel Proust The Flower or the Weed Let's take a break from thinking whether or not you're happy. Let's ask a more difficult question, "Do you make other people happy?" This can be a tough question to swallow if you've never considered it before. It requires that you think back over your recent and more distant memories to determine whether or not you've improved the countenances of others. Are you one of these gardeners that Proust refers to here or are you the one who poisons the beautiful display of nature? Are you the flower or are you the weed? Some of you might think to yourselves, "Why does it matter? What matters is my own happiness." If you've read some of my previous posts on this tour, you know that many famous happiness historians believe that the best way to obtain happiness is by bestowing it onto others. This spreading of happiness seeds may take the form of kind gestures, encouragement, empathic listening and charitable contributions. There are many ways to increase the happiness levels in other people's lives. It's up to you to make it a priority in your life if you want to take this tried and true path toward your own happiness. Why are some people the poisoning weed in this scenario? What makes people infect others with their unhappiness? There is no clear cut answer. There are some who enjoy stealing the power of others by belittling those beneath them. For these folks, they feel as though the buzz they get from insulting and yelling leads to strength for them, when in actuality it shows a great deal of weakness. Others are mean and nasty because they've had a rough life and all their previous attempts to show compassion were met with a painful end. It's tough to blame them, but if you encounter such a person, it's up to you to try not to feed into his or her world view. Stop the chain by being kind and perhaps this individual can learn to be more of a gardener him or herself. If you truly answer the question of whether you're the flower or the weed and you find that you're not on the side you'd hoped for, it's up to you and you alone to fix things. Start making small changes in your everyday life to spread more happiness and joy. You don't have to be bubbling with energy all the time, you simply need to keep in mind that the best way to be happy is to make the happiness of others a priority. Try it out and watch your garden flourish.

The Lure of Shapinsay by Krista Holle
Here's the blurb:
Ever since Kait Swanney could remember, the old crones of the village have been warning her to stay away from the selkies. They claim that like sirens of old, the seal men creep from the inky waters, shed their skins, and entice women to their deaths beneath the North Sea. But avoiding an encounter becomes impossible when Kait is spotted at the water’s edge, moments after the murder of a half-selkie infant.
Kait is woken unexpectedly by a beautiful selkie man seeking revenge. After she declares her innocence, the intruder darts into the night, but not before inadvertently bewitching her with an overpowering lure.
She obsesses over a reunion deep beneath the bay and risks her own life to be reunited with her selkie. But when she lands the dangerous lover, the chaos that follows leaves Kait little time to wonder—is it love setting her on fire or has she simply been lured?

Blurb-

She sought peace in saying a proper goodbye, but what she found was an old love, a sordid family history, and a wrong only she could right.

What he found gave Emma the freedom to walk away from the mansion, her heart free and clear, but at what price to Noah?
Tifferz Take-
This is a really cool story and you will be surprised with how things play out. I sure was. I enjoyed the feel of this mystery and the characters. Ms. Ballance sure knows how to write a story with such feeling. This story will stick with you because it is a beautifully written sweet romance. I will be on the hunt for more of Ms. Balance's work.

From Now Until Forever by Sherry Gloag

Blurb-
For Prince Liam, families meant bad news, unwanted commitments, and the loss of his personal freedom. Love spawned white picket fences, slippers at the hearth with a wife and kids making demands, so why did those images disappear when he met Melanie Babcot?
Melanie Babcot fought hard to escape the horrors of her youth and vowed to remain single and free, so when paid to protect Prince Liam from insurgents why did her personal pledge fly out the window?
Tifferz Take-
Ms. Gloag knows how to pack a punch. This sweet romance will keep you on your the edge of your seat. A romance filled with action and adventure while trying to stay alive. Be sure to pay attention so you don't miss a single detail. I was intrigued by the characters and the plot. Is Liam and Melanie's marriage based on lies or is it based on love? You will have to read it to find out. Great work Ms. Gloag. I will be look for more from you.
This story is clean but does have some mild violence and some kissing!

Synonpsis
On August 15th, 1939 an English passenger plane from British Airways Ltd. Crashed in Danish
waters between the towns of Nykobing/Falster and Vordingborg. There were five casualties
reported and one survivor. Just two weeks before Hitler invaded Poland with the world at the
brink of war the manner in which this incident was investigated left much open to doubt. The
jurisdiction battle between the two towns and the newly formed Danish secret police, created
an atmosphere of intrigue and distrust. The five casualties are; Cesar Agustin Castillo, a bio-
chemical engineer educated in both Germany and the USA, he is a Mexican national working
for Standard Oil of New Jersey’s London branch. Samuel James Simonton, American national
also employed by Standard Oil of New Jersey’s London office with a very strong military back
ground, graduate of West Point. Erich Bruno Wilhelm Beuss a German national a corporate
lawyer who is travelling with his medals earned in World War I. Anthony Crommelin Crossley
English Member of Parliament who is known and outspoken on the antipathy to Hitler and the
Munich Pact. He is also the sole defender of the Arab cause in the matter of Palestine in the
1930s. Alfred Stanley Mardsin Leigh, employee of British Airways LTD. The sole survivor is the
Pilot Clifford Frederick Cecil Wright. In the winter of 2009-2010 a young executive, Bill is
promoted and transferred to London for a major International firm. He has struggled for the
better part of his life with nightmares and phobias, which only seem to worsen in London. As he
seeks the help of a therapist he accepts that his issues may well be related to a 'past-life
trauma’. His love interest Maggie helps him in his quest and realizes that she too is part of the
events as much in the past as she is in 2009-2010. Maggie and Bill find that through their love
and the courage to submit to past life regressions. They begin to find more questions than
answers. They become very curious about events leading up to World War II and through
archives and the information superhighway of the 21st century Bill and Maggie travel through
knowledge and time to uncover the story of the 1939 plane crash. Their quest includes a
friendship forged through Skype with a middle-aged woman in Florida obsessed with the truth
about her grandfather’s death. This woman has been working for nearly two decades with
archives in Denmark, England and the United States to unfold the mystery that left her family
scarred and wondering. Her meticulous search and actual copies of documents in the book
help the reader understand that we are indeed dealing with true events.
All historical data is clearly documented and footnoted as many of the files used by the author
were rather obscure and not found in any history books. All data from psychics and past life
regressions is also very clearly documented.
The Bridge of Deaths is a love story and a mystery. Fictional characters travel through the world
of past life regressions and information acquired from psychics as well as archives and historical
sources to solve "One of those mysteries that never get solved" is based on true events and
real people, it is the culmination of 18 years of sifting through sources in Denmark, England and
the United States, it finds a way to help the reader feel that he /she is also sifting through data
and forming their own conclusions. The journey takes the reader to well-known and little
known events leading up to the Second World War, both in Europe and America. The journey
also takes the reader to the possibility of finding oneself
in this lifetime by exploring past lives
Author Bio-
M.C.V. Egan is the pen name chosen by Maria Catalina Egan the author of The Bridge of Deaths. Catalina was born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1959, one of eight children. From a very young age she became obsessed with the story of her maternal Grandfather, Cesar Agustin Castillo, mostly the story of how he died. She only spent her childhood in Mexico. Her father became an employee of The World Bank in Washington D.C.
From the early 1970s at the age of 12 she moved with her entire family to the United States. She was already fluent in Southern English as she had spent one school year in the town of Pineville, Louisiana with her grandparents. There she won the English award; ironically being the only one who had English as a second language in her class. In the D.C. suburbs she attended various private Catholic schools and graduated from Winston Churchill HS in Potomac, Maryland in 1977. She attended Montgomery Community College, where she changed majors every semester. She also studied in Lyons, France at the Catholic University for two years. In 1981, due to an impulsive young marriage to a Viking ( The Swedish kind, not the football player kind) Catalina moved to Sweden where she resided for five years and taught at a language school for Swedish, Danish, and Finnish businesspeople. She returned to the USA where she has been living ever since. She is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Swedish.
Mrs. Egan has worked for various companies and holds an Insurance license for the State of Florida. Not her favorite field but involves very nice folks and makes money!
Maria Catalina Egan is married and has one son, who together with their five pound Chihuahua makes her feel like a fulltime mother. Although she would not call herself an Astrologer she has taken many classes and taught a few beginner classes in Astrology. This is one of her many past times when she is not writing or researching.
She celebrated her 52nd birthday on July 2nd 2011 and gave herself self-publishing The Bridge of Deaths as a gift; she never submitted it to anyone prior to this decision and has enjoyed the very positive feedback.

The Long Moon by Stephy Smith

TITLE: The Long Moon Author: Stephy Smith
GENRE: contemporary, western, romance
WORD COUNT: 30635
Blurb-
Carson Long fights to remain free of the swirling emotions a past love instilled in him. Denying his heart access to the long-haired beauty isn't an easy task.
River Moon desperately wants to reclaim the man she lost from one irrational fit of rage. He refuses to give into her request until she and her grandparents lives are threatened.
No matter what she did to him in the past, he couldn’t let her suffering go without helping her. But will he be able to resist the temptations of his past?
Tifferz Take-
This is a fun, sweet contemporary romance set on a farm. If you love handsome cowboy's, stubborn women, cranky old men, greedy sisters and sneaky rustlers then I think you will enjoy this story. I could relate to River about assuming things and jumping to conclusions. I can say I am guilty of doing this on at least one occasion. How about you?
Carson is leery when it come to River. She has hurt him before. So, can River and Carson have a second chance? Can they forgive and forget? You will have to read it to see. But, I can say I was happy how things turn out. Though I did want a little more like a epilogue with them a few years down the road.
One of my favorite part was the story River's father told Carson about how River got her name. I was ginning with how uncomfortable Carson must have been. I am glad to discover a new author and will be on the look out for more from Ms. Smith. This just contains sweet kissing!

The Wide-Awake Princess by E.D. Baker
Blurb-
In this new stand-alone fairy tale, Princess Annie is the younger sister to Gwen, the princess destined to be Sleeping Beauty. When Gwennie pricks her finger and the whole castle falls asleep, only Annie is awake, and only Annie—blessed (or cursed?) with being impervious to magic—can venture out beyond the rose-covered hedge for help. She must find Gwen's true love to kiss her awake.
But who is her true love? The irritating Digby? The happy-go-lucky Prince Andreas, who is holding a contest to find his bride? The conniving Clarence, whose sinister motives couldn't possibly spell true love? Joined by one of her father's guards, Liam, who happened to be out of the castle when the sleeping spell struck, Annie travels through a fairy tale land populated with characters both familiar and new as she tries to fix her sister and her family . . . and perhaps even find a true love of her own.
Tifferz Take-
This is hands down one of my favorite fairy tales! E.D Baker has weaved a magical tale that kept me entralled from the first chapter. I loved the spin on many other fairy tales and neatly rolled into one and made it truely unique. My only complaint is that it ended a little too quickly. I would have enjoyed a little more of that happy ending! I am hooked on E.D. Baker's writing and will be reading more from this author. This was my first read from the author and will not be my last. I will be reading this again and to my children as well! Simply delightful and recommend this adventurous romantic tale.

Verdon locks her away in a tower. She is not sure if he seeks to prevent her from fleeing the marriage or spreading the truth only she seems willing to speak: Verdon killed their father. Either way, her time is running out

I highly recommend this powerful story of love and learning to trust. Rachel has crafted a wonderful romance packed with mystery, murder, a crazy abusive brother and a hero that is unforgettable . I consumed Word and Deed in one sitting and I had a smile on my face, satisfied with the story and ending. I did not want to say goodbye to Bryn and Verity. I only wish the story was longer. Maybe even just an epilogue with them a few years down the road. This is a clean heartwarming story. I can't wait to get my hands on another Rachel Rossano story. You really can't go wrong. I will be reading this story again as I can't seem to get it out of my mind. I love when a story sticks with you. I also really like the cover! Happy reading my friends!

This is such a great short story! Rachel is great and Noah is hot and witty! I think Ellen is a great friend. I only wish that Ms. Hatler would make this a full length novel! You can never go wrong with a story by Susan Hatler! It is clean and fun! Be ready to laugh! I would recommend this read!

The Haunting of Autumn Lake by Marcia Lynn McClure

photo from amazon.com
Excerpt:
Autumn Lake stopped cold in her tracks. She puffed a breath of summoning courage as she gazed at the old covered bridge before her. Ever since she was a child and Sawyer had read to her the fascinating yet thoroughly haunting story of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Mr. Washington Irving, Autumn had secreted a fear of bridges. Each time she was meant to cross a bridge (especially the old covered bridge on the far side of the orchards), she expected the ghostly headless horseman to appear and attempt to decapitate her. Oh, certainly the tale of the Specter did nothing to soothe her either, for it was said that this was to be a year of the Specter. As the story went, the local phantom, the Specter, only appeared once every ten years—but this was to be the year of the Specter, and Autumn did not like crossing bridges even when it was not a year of the Specter.
Gulping down her fear, however, Autumn glanced behind her, assuring herself that there was no headless horseman riding up behind her intent on stealing her head.
“He wouldn’t want a woman’s head anyway,” she mumbled to herself, even as rising fear caused her heart to pound in her chest. “And besides,” she said, looking back to the old bridge, “I’m eighteen years old…nineteen in less than a month. Surely I can cross the bridge without runnin’.”
Pulling her sketchbook to her chest and tightly folding her arms across it, she spoke aloud to the cattails. “Wish me luck, my darlings…for I do prefer to keep my head attached to the rest of me.”
As Autumn stepped onto the bridge, the roof blocked the warm sunshine, making the space inside the bridge dark and gloomy. Yet she’d expected this. What else would one expect of a covered bridge? After all, its very purpose was protection from the elements, and that included the heat of the summer sun. Naturally, Autumn preferred to think of its purpose as being made for something else—the seclusion necessary for the romance of lovers’ trysts.
She sighed with disenchantment for a moment—disappointment at never having had a lover of her own. She thought how different it would be to cross the old bridge if her arm were linked to that of a strong and handsome lover. Still, she had no lover, and the fact remained that she must indeed cross the bridge.
Tifferz Take-
I purchased this paperback copy off amazon.com I Loved Ransom and Vaden's story (Visions of Ransom Lake) and was excited to see a story about Autumn. The story is cute and clean as Marcia is know for. I liked how selfless the hero is. I think Ms. McClure did a good job with her villian. This one is better than the last book I read of hers The Trove of the Passion Room. I felt that Ransom and Vaden's making out and banter was distracting from Autumn's story. I found it weird that Autumn has a obession with her parents kissing. I also think that Ms. McClure needs to find a new editor. She has been writing stories for over ten years (this is not a hobby) and when I pay an arm and a leg for one of your books (which I think are over priced). I want it to be free of errors. The errors distracted from the story.

Stirring Wishes By Tara Manderino
Blurb-
Elise has only one goal in mind: to make this the best possible Christmas for her younger brother, Harry. Lord Richard Stilton likes having his home to himself. The last thing he appreciates is his brother bringing in a frozen waif. Her appearance at his home hasn't changed him -- or has it?
Tifferz Take-
Stirring Wishes is a splendid romance with a bit of mystery that warmed my heart. Ms. Manderino bakes a story that leaves you full and happy. I felt the flow of the story was just the right consistency. This was a clean read no swearing or sex. I found Elise's brother Harry to be quite charming and funny. My heart went out to Elise and her family. I found Michael to be a typical younger brother. I enjoyed the banter between Michael and Richard. I liked Richard and the fact that he does the right thing and looks out for those he cares about. Overall Stirring Wishes is a story I will read again and would recommend.

To Urn Her Love by By Elaina Lee

Blurb-
Caylie Abrahms bad day gets worse when the teen brother she's responsible for proudly hands her a gift. Just wanting to show how much he appreciates all his sister does for him, Kyle steals what he believes is an ornate glass vase. The gift is anything but however, and now Caylie has to find the owner of an urn. Worst yet, she has to explain her dear brother stole someones loved one.
Against all odds she learns the urn belongs to Rick Marshall, her best friend from college, the man she'd poured her heart out to and been rejected by. She never thought she'd see him again, let alone have to hand him back his father in glass. Will her resolve remain strong in his presence, or will she suffer another broken heart?
Tifferz Take-
To Urn Her Love is a fun romantic story that had me laughing a lot. I think we have all had moments like Caylie in how this story begins. I know I have. Kyle is a teenager with his heart in the right place. I found a ton of humor in how he thinks. Just like a teenager. Bring in Rick who wishes he could undo the past. Oh, and throw in a urn that needs to be returned to Rick with his father inside. Can you say awkward? Yup it was! Great story that I want more of.
An excellent short, sweet romance. It is clean no sex or language.

Taboo by Tara Maya

Blurb-
A DEVESTATING SETBACK
Enemy tribesmen attacked the Initiates during the ritual Test to find magic users. Dindi’s dreams are in shambles. In despair, she decides to step into the forbidden faery ring, and dance herself to death with the fae. Then she discovers another choice that saves her life…but breaks the ultimate taboo.
A DESPERATE OUTREACH
After being unfairly exiled from his own people, Kavio may have found a new home, but only if he can protect it from another attack by the enemy. He gathers a small group to venture deep into the heart of enemy territory in search of the ultimate prize…peace.
But by the harsh laws of their land, one cannot both break taboos and keep the peace. They will have to choose, what, or whom, to betray.
Tifferz Take-
First off I love this cover! The story is a continuation of the first book so you need to read that first as the author gives no back story. Taboo is enthralling and the description of the dancing is spectacular. As I was reading it was like watching it in the movies. I could picture everything crystal clear. We are also introduced to some new creatures and a fascinating world of faeries and magic. I love faeries and Magic. We also see the beginning of a romance between Dindi and Kavio. I am enjoying the world they live in is changing and the characters need to make choices. I will be looking for book three as Ms. Maya leaves us hanging for more. This will be a 12 book series. I did not care for Gremo and Svego’s relationship(they are both male and have relations). I almost stop reading because of it and I found myself skipping those parts of the story. I know that happens all the time but I don't agree with it or care to read it. Since this story was so gripping I skipped those parts.
This book does contain some descriptive violence, marital relations (and reference to) and a couple swear words.

Guest Post with author Debra Jayne East!
I was born the oldest of six girls from Martinsville, Virginia. For as long as I could remember, I loved to keep journals, write poetry and short stories. In second grade, my teacher took us to the library and I checked out “The Little Princess,” by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I fell in love with reading immediately! It wasn’t long after, I started writing short stories and my friend even bought a story for her brother. I was hooked!
After a few years though, I put all my journals away and concentrated on my family and career. You never forget your first love because after my kids left home that old beckoning called my name loud and clear. I researched my family tree and suddenly I understood why. My distant relative, Violet Florence Martin , was an Irish author born in 1862 who co-wrote a series of novels with cousin Edith Somerville under the pen name of Martin Ross during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Learning about my heritage encouraged me to follow my dreams. After I encountered a near-death experience during a routine surgery, I realized my time had come to follow my heart and my calling to be a writer. My first novel, Radiance: Love after Death, was released by XOXO Publishing in June of last year. Their faith in publishing my story made me believe that dreams really can come true.
The idea for the storyline came to me after a long depression after a divorce. I found a crooked heart-shaped stone in the grass. It reminded me that even though hearts get broken and scarred they are still capable of love. Finding the stone renewed my will to go on, and I realized it had a message for anyone recovering from heartbreak.
I pass that on in Marena Jacobs. She’s not your usual kind of heroine. She’s divorced, overweight and a workaholic. Her priorities change however, when a car accident almost takes her life. Sometimes we just need something to shake us up a bit to get headed in the right direction. We all need second chances, and I hope you will be inspired by my paranormal spin on that concept.
I look forward to releasing part two, “Remnant of a Kiss,” later this year as well as a poetry book. Thanks for having me today!
