Tuesdays at the Castle by Jessica Day George

Blurb-
Tuesdays at Castle Glower are Princess Celie's favorite days. That's because on Tuesdays the castle adds a new room, a turret, or sometimes even an entire wing. No one ever knows what the castle will do next, and no one-other than Celie, that is-takes the time to map out the new additions. But when King and Queen Glower are ambushed and their fate is unknown, it's up to Celie, with her secret knowledge of the castle's never-ending twists and turns, to protect their home and save their kingdom. This delightful book from a fan- and bookseller-favorite kicks off a brand-new series sure to become a modern classic.

Tifferz Take-
Jessica Day Georges latest book is one not to be missed. I think the cover is very cute! I consumed this story in one night! Join Celie her sister Lulath, her brother Rolf on a astonishing adventure through the Glower castle. Who do you trust when trusted counsellors have been plotting against you? I liked trying to figure out how things would turn out. Jessica does weaves a magical tale. I felt the conclusion of the story was a little rushed. I also know this a the first of a three book series. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book. This book is geared to middle graders but I loved it and think any open minded adult would love it as well. Great job Jessica on yet another excellent story.
This was an arc.

Boppers take-
Tuesdays at the Castle by Jessica Day George Is an amazing book, I LOVED it. It is a mystery (kind of a murder) with the tiniest hints of romance and other good elements of writing such as humor and suspense. Although this book is one of my new favorites I think the ending to this book was a bit rushed, I mean it wrapped up the story but I think that Jessica could have done a better job.

Crystals take-
Tuesdays at the Castle is the newest book by author Jessica Day George. This exciting new book, geared toward children, was a wonderful read for me as an adult. The story takes place in a castle that is magical and constantly changing its structure. It lengthens its hallways, adds new rooms and staircases too. It even changes the location of rooms! The characters are the royal children, Rolf, Lilah, and Celie. Celie is the main character and loves the castle! She knows it best and maps it’s changes and where everything is located.
This Jessica Day George book is one you don’t want to miss! Join Celie and her siblings on this roller-coaster journey through this amazing castle! You won’t want to miss the laughter, the danger, the tears! Celie will take you on a journey through the castle and show you how she isn’t just your average eleven year old! She and her siblings are put to the test when their parents go missing and those meant to protect and help them are not what they appear to be.
I loved this book and I couldn’t put it down! I stayed up reading it and had it finished in less than a day. Jessica weaves a story of magic, wonder, and keeps you guessing until the end! A wonderful addition to her previous successful novels; this is one you don’t want to miss! Bravo Jessica, please write many more!

Blurb-
Will he secure his future by ruining hers, or will she ruin his plans by securing him? A new twist on the old fortune hunter plot puts an impoverished earl in a position to gain his fortune only by ruining an innocent's reputation without offering marriage. The innocent he's selected, however, has no plans to settle for anything less than marriage and will go to almost any length to secure him.

When the impoverished Andrew Black, Earl of Townson, hits rock bottom, he makes an agreement that will end his eight year poverty streak once and for all. In order to gain his fortune he must do but one simple thing: ruin an innocent girl’s reputation enough to make her flee to America.

Brooke Banks isn’t interested in marriage, or so she thinks. She came to London to have a good time, and that’s exactly what she’s doing. Widely known for her tendency to flout the rules, she suspects nothing when a handsome stranger appears on her doorstep.

Thirteen days, a handful of kisses and one scandalous situation later, Andrew and Brooke will have to choose to stick to their original plans, or decide if a life together is worth the risk.

***This is a full-length novel, approx. 100,000 words.

Tifferz Take-
First off this is my first but not my last book by Rose Gordon! I adore the cover. I think it is perfect and would by the book just by the cover. This is a fun and entertaining story. I love how stubborn and sassy Brooke is. Oh the things this girl does. I enjoyed watching her push the limits with everyone! I liked how Andrew got himself into a pickle or two! It was great watching him figure out how to fix it. The flow and character development was great. The only thing is I still had a few questions at the end. I hope that in book two we see how Andrew and Brooke are doing and I am sure I will get my answers.
If you like regency romance pick this book up. Clean language. This does contain detailed consummation of a marriage. If you do not care for that it is easily to skip it. I do love that this is not your typical regency romance and that they are married before they are intimate. Thanks Rose for an escape on a rainy day! I hope you all enjoy this read! This is a three book series about three sisters. The best thing is all the books are out so no waiting!!!

Liberty Banks loves revenge almost as much as she hates one Mister Paul Grimes, who, she considers to be the most improper creature she has ever clapped eyes upon. But when her plans for revenge against Paul go bust, she suddenly finds herself walking down the aisle to him.

Once married, a battle of the wills breaks out as each tries to reform the other. Liberty wants nothing more than to have a proper husband. Much to Liberty’s dismay, Paul will stop at nothing to have is all too proper wife do something--anything--to break the rules of society, specifically do the most improper thing which is to fall in love with the most improper man: her own husband.

Tifferz Take-
I absolutely can't take my eyes of this cover. I think it is so pretty! I can't wait to see the next one. It seems like each cover gets better than the last. Okay on with the review. I have a lot of respect for Liberty and all her reasons for being proper. But I enjoyed watching her cut loose. This is a fun story and had me hooked from the beginning. The answers I was looking for from book 1 were answered and it was great catching up with Brooke and Andrew from book 1. I like the Banks family the more I read about them. I enjoyed seeing Paul stoke Liberty's temper! Oh the things they do to each other! One my favorite part of the book was when Liberty's mom and sister Brooke explain what to expect from her wedding night. I was cracking up laughing. This book has a detailed description of the consummation of the marriage. This is easy to skip if you don't care for it.

Not to be outdone by her sisters' marriage-producing scandals, quiet and withdrawn Madison Banks quickly finds herself walking down the aisle to a man who has secretly loved her for years.

Her groom, however, has no idea how to show his new bride that he truly loves her and following a bungled wedding night, finds himself in a position to either win his wife once and for all or lose her forever.

Can he prove himself worthy of her? Will she accept his love? Or will jealousy and past insecurities tear the pair apart?

Tifferz Take-
I am loving Ms. Gordon's book covers so far and that includes this one. Love it! Okay on with the book. I felt for Madison. She has had to live with the consequences of her actions. Madison has secrets from her husband and it is partly due to trust issues. I enjoyed watching Madison's husband assume things. Typical man.It was great to see Madison learn to trust and heal from her past. This story touches on some heartache. But it has it's funny moments as well. I was cracking up when Madison's husband carries her out of the house to the carriage without her shoes. This book does contain a few swear words and a detailed description of the consummation of the marriage. If you don't care for that it is easily skimmed or skipped. This is a great ending to the series. These books also could stand alone. If you like regency pick this up!

The overly scientific, always respectable, and socially awkward Alexander Banks has just been informed his name resides on a betrothal agreement right above the name of the worst chit in all of England. With a loophole that allows him to marry another without consequence before the thirtieth anniversary of his birth, he has only four weeks to find another woman and make her his wife. Being the logical scientist he is, Alex decides to take his friend's advice and treat his quest for a bride just like a science experiment...

Caroline Sinclair is still trying to scrape her jaw off the floor after hearing her cousin, Lady Olivia’s, latest announcement when the object of their conversation, Alex Banks, Olivia’s intended, arrives for what Caroline assumes is a bout of drawing room chitchat with his betrothed. But when an experiment is mentioned, Caroline, who cannot resist a science experiment any more than she can deny her lungs air, volunteers to help before she even knows what his latest experiment is!

Tifferz Take-

First off the cover is perfect for this story! This story is a continuation of the Scandalous Sisters. Alex Banks is their cousin who we meet in the other books. We get to catch up with family from the first three books and meet some new friends that I think will be in the next books. The earlier books will give you a taste of Olivia as well, she is a piece of work! I think the combination of Alex and Caroline is refreshing and it works! I enjoyed watching them grow as a couple and overcome difficult things. This does contain descriptive sex after marriage. I look forward to reading the next three books in this series. I always enjoy a good family series. It is so fun to see how things are going for couples and families. This book can also stand alone.

But when it slips out that she does, he doubts her love for his scarred body and past can be real. For truly, how can a woman love a man whose injuries were caused when he once tried to declare himself to her sister?

Tifferz Take-
Okay this is the second book in the Groom series by Rose Gordon. This is a series and is more fun to read them that way. But I think they do stand alone quiet nicely. It's a win win. I really like Emma. She is so sweet yet very stubborn. Marcus is a recluse with good reason and I think is more stubborn than Emma. I even got worried towards the end of this book because they were both so stubborn.I even shed a few tears. This book also has it's laugh out loud moments as well. I liked the plot and flow of the book. This does contain a detailed description of the consummation of a marriage. If you do not care for that it is easily skimmed or skipped. But this ordinary young lady isn’t so ordinary after all, and he’ll either have to take a chance and risk his heart once more or wind up alone forever.

Tifferz Take-
This is the third book in the groom series and it was a wonderful read. I was laughing at Viscount Deakely at some pretty hefty mistakes he made. Sometimes I think that he thought things through but really didn't. I liked how Juliet can hold her own. I liked the banter between the two. Viscount Drakely's girls are fun kids and some of the things they say, will have you laughing out loud. I liked how Drakely had to over come some issues he had and once he learned to communicate things smoothed out. I did feel towards the middle of the book that the kids needed to be mentioned more. The book does have a sex after marriage. I am looking forward to the fourth and last book in the series. I do know that Ms. Gordan does have plans to write more. Thanks for another story. I feel that this book stands alone nicely.

This was my first paranormal fantasy read by Cas Peace. This is book one in a three book series. This story has a cool plot. I liked this heart pounding adventure. I was pulled into other realms with Teran, Major Sullyan, Robin and Bull. It seems people want more power.
I only wish they would have put the glossary in the front of the book instead of the back.I am wishing I had some magical powers. Very fun read that leaves you wanting more. I even think my daughter would enjoy this read. This is a clean read. Though it does has attempted rape.

Still Sweet on You by Kat Jones

Blurb-
Tall, tanned, dark, and delicious? More like former fiancé!

The stud-muffin headed in the direction of Claire Water’s newly opened chocolate shop is none other than the doctor she once dated–and he’s rattling the skeletons in her closet every step of the way.

For Claire has a secret—a six-year old, blonde-haired, blue-eyed little girl of a secret—and Burke Harlow has questions. Lots of them, the kind that poke too deep and hit hard too hard, for those pesky old feelings between them aren’t finished yet. Not by a secret baby mile…

SWEET CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
LENGTH: NOVELLA

Tifferz Take-
I think the cover is so cute and very fitting for this book! This story was just what I needed and the perfect length. I am so busy this Christmas season and it was great to have a yummy, sweet romance to forget about all the things I should be doing. I totally understood why Claire handled things six years earlier. I am also so glad for second chances and forgiveness. Burke was so funny the first time they see each other again. I was laughing so hard at the things coming out of his mouth! Burke is a charming guy and fell for him like Claire. This is a great clean (no sex or swearing) novella and will be reading it again! So, grab a cup of hot cocoa and curl up by a fire and enjoy this read!

Avoiding Buck is best, but then the infuriating man exacts revenge—with a water gun. Soon, her new neighbor isn’t just asking questions, he’s asking Edie on a date.
Can Edie dare to love again? To trust in a man…and her new identity? Or will her secrets come back to bite them both?

Tifferz Take-

I think this cover is really cute. Now on to the story. This is my first Kate Jones read. I like it. The story was well written and had me wanting to find how things would turn out. The thought the plot was very believable and I feel in love with Reece. I did not like how two married people started a romantic relationship while separated. I know that this happens all the time but it bothered me. I still however had to find out how things ended. So, I may not agree with that. I did finish the story and enjoyed it. If that does not bother you pick up this read! This does reference sex but does not go into detail. I loved how things ended up. I did feel for Edie and the hard choices she was faced with! I love strong women! I will be looking for more from Kat Jones.

Christmas Stars for Dry Creek- Janet does it again!!! Another great historical romance. It is clean and such a sweet story. I really liked how Elanor was forgiving and understanding of her soon to be mother in law.She also made things work with what she had. I enjoyed her positive attitude. Adam grew on me. He is a little rough but he has some issues to deal with and in time warms up nicely. A excellent Christmas read that made me want to be a better person. This story is clean no sex or swearing. So pick up this great Christmas read! I have not read Jillian Hart's story yet.

Dark Before Dawn by Stacy Juba

Blurb-
When teen psychic Dawn Christian gets involved with a fortuneteller mentor and two girls who share her mysterious talents, she finally belongs after years of being a misfit. When she learns her new friends may be tied to freak accidents in town, Dawn has an important choice to make - continue developing the talent that makes her special or challenge the only people who have ever accepted her. This novel is aimed at young adults, and at adults who enjoy paranormal YA such as the Twilight series, House of Night, and The Vampire Diaries series, Meg Cabot’s The Mediator series, or Lois Duncan books.

Tifferz Take-
I am a fan of Stacy Juba's and was intrigued by the plot of this story. I was hooked within the first few chapters. I refused to put it down till it was done. The suspense was killing me. I was amused by the characters and I can see how revenge motivates people. I liked Dawn's family and how they stuck together. I liked this paranormal murder mystery. I think it would be kinda cool to have some of the mysterious talents that Dawn has. Of course being used for good only :) I would recommend this clean read to anyone! I think you all would find this to be a great read for an afternoon. I sure did! I look forward to the next Stacy Juba read!

To Win His Wayward Wife by Rose Gordon

Blurb-
Not to be outdone by her sisters' marriage-producing scandals, quiet and withdrawn Madison Banks quickly finds herself walking down the aisle to a man who has secretly loved her for years.

Liberty for Paul by Rose Gordon

Blurb-
Liberty Banks loves revenge almost as much as she hates one Mister Paul Grimes, who, she considers to be the most improper creature she has ever clapped eyes upon.

Intentions of the Earl by Rose Gordon

Blurb-
Will he secure his future by ruining hers, or will she ruin his plans by securing him?

Tifferz take-

You all know I love this series and feel everyone should read it. Each book gets better and better and this one does not disappoint. Colleen writing is pure magic and simply flawless. The story continues with new adventures and challenges await Kelsey, Ren and Kishan. I loved the dragon's and mermaid and the challenges they have to meet in order to break another part of the curse. It was also inter sting to have Kelsey work with Ren and Kishan on the challenges. I thought she would have to pick one. It makes sense and makes things very interesting. I love how Colleen has developed the characters. They are not the same as they were in book one. It is has been fun to watch them grow. Northwest Angle by William Kent Krueger

Blurb-
With his family caught in the crosshairs of a group of brutal killers, detective Cork O’Connor must solve the murder of a young girl in the latest installment of William Kent Krueger’s unforgettable New York Times bestselling series.
During a houseboat vacation on the remote Lake of the Woods, a violent gale sweeps through unexpectedly, stranding Cork and his daughter, Jenny, on a devastated island where the wind has ushered in a force far darker and more deadly than any storm.

Amid the wreckage, Cork and Jenny discover an old trapper’s cabin where they find the body of a teenage girl. She wasn’t killed by the storm, however; she’d been bound and tortured before she died. Whimpering sounds coming from outside the cabin lead them to a tangle of branches toppled by the vicious winds. Underneath the debris, they find a baby boy, hungry and dehydrated, but still very much alive. Powerful forces intent on securing the child pursue them to the isolated Northwest Angle, where it’s impossible to tell who among the residents is in league with the devil. Cork understands that to save his family he must solve the puzzle of this mysterious child whom death follows like a shadow.

“Part adventure, part mystery, and all knockout thriller” (Booklist ), Northwest Angle is a dynamic addition to William Kent Krueger’s critically acclaimed, award-winning series.

Tifferz Take-
Mr. Krueger has a knack for writing a good mystery, suspense thriller that will not have you loosing sleep. I am all for a good mystery but I do not want to loose sleep thinking someone is after me. The plot is believable, with characters you grow to love tied in with a overall good message. What is not to like? I am thrilled to have discovered a new author with great writing skills. I felt myself going along with Cork and his family in this unexpected mystery. I was surprised at the ending! Great work. I just found out this is a series. I have not read any of the other books. I did not feel lost at all. This is also a stand alone book. So if you are a mystery, thriller reader pick it up and I hope you enjoy! I will be putting more of Mr.Krueger's work in my to be read pile.

It is one of those books you start and can't put it down because you are engrossed in it. Great plot, character development, mystery and a sweet romance. No sex in this story. By her early twenties she has learned the ropes of the business and is engaged to a modest government clerk. But everything changes when two charismatic men burst unexpectedly into her neatly mapped-out life: an attractive salesman and the father she never knew.

Between War and Peace . . .

With the Spanish Civil War brewing in Madrid, Sira leaves her mother and her fiancé, impetuously following her handsome lover to Morocco. However, she soon finds herself abandoned, penniless, and heartbroken in an exotic land. As England, Germany, and the other great powers launch into the dire conflict of World War II, Sira is persuaded to return to Madrid, where she takes on a new identity to embark upon the most dangerous undertaking of her career. Sira and learns a lot and sometimes it is not pretty and my heart went out to her. I also learned a bit. ONE random winner will be chosen and will receive a paperback copy of After the Party by Lisa Jewell. I will email the winner for an address to send it. Good Luck!

Blurb:
Eleven years ago, Jem Catterick and Ralph McLeary fell deeply in love. They thought it would be forever, that they’d found their happy ending. As everyone agreed, they were the perfect couple. Then two became four, and an apartment became a house. Romantic nights out became sleepless nights in. And they soon found that life wasn’t quite so simple anymore. But through it all, Jem and Ralph still loved each other. Of course they did.

Now Jem is back at work part-time as a talent agent. Ralph, a successful painter, is struggling to come up with new, hopefully groundbreaking, work for his upcoming show. But the unimaginable has happened. Two people who were so right together are starting to drift apart And in the chaos of family life, Jem feels like she’s losing herself, while Ralph, stuck on the sidelines, feels like he’s lost his muse altogether. Something has to change. As they try to find a way back to each other, back to what they once had, they both become momentarily distracted—but maybe it’s not too late to recapture happily ever after…

Tifferz Take:
First I love the cover of this book! I also was so thrilled to read this book after reading the blurb! Lisa's writing is simply smashing. I read this chick lit summer romance in one sitting. I had to find out how things turned out for Ralph and Jem. I think Lisa did an awesome job with Ralph and I liked getting a look into his thoughts.
I did think that some of the choices that Ralph and Jem made were not the best. But I guess that makes things more interesting. This is a very witty story that does contain some language and some sex (not detailed) while not married. The only problem I had with this story is that things were resolved a little to quickly for me. This was my first book by Lisa and I did not know that it was a sequel to Ralph's Party. I had no problem reading and following this story, so it is a great stand alone read, but I may have to pick up the prequel Ralph's Party. I do recommend this to those who like romance and chick lit.

American Smile by Cody Young

Blurb:

American Smile weaves together a D-Day love story and a contemporary tale.
When Emma Rowland discovers that her family tree is a work of fiction, she is determined to uncover the truth, though it has been hidden for sixty-five years and few people are willing to talk.
The irresistible Tyler Robinson, an American aircraft mechanic, promises to help solve the wartime puzzle. It soon becomes clear that Tyler knows more about the mystery than he is willing to say, and that he has secrets of his own.
Together they follow the trail blazed by a reckless GI and his ‘blonde bombshell’ girl - a couple who fell in love in the months before the Normandy landings of 1944. A DNA test holds some surprises and the search takes Tyler and Emma to Paris, where their questions are finally answered, but what does the future hold for them both?

Tifferz Take:
This is a sweet and charming story. I loved the two romances going on. One in modern day and one during WWII. Cody has a way with words that wrap around you like a warm blanket. I enjoyed the plot and the story flowed flawlessly. American smile may cause a few tears as it pulls at your heart. But, it does have a happy ending! This does contain reference to sex and one scene that was not that detailed. If you do not care for that you can skip it easily. I would recommend it and I cant wait to get my hands on another Cody Young read. I hope you like it as much as I did.

I think my favorite part was the fruit cake. It just made me laugh. So, if you want a great read. Pick this one up. I read it in an afternoon. It is great for a nice escape. This was my first book from this author and I will be reading more from her.

The Trove of the Passion Room by Marcia Lynn McClure

Blurb-
Sharlamagne Dickens cherished her family, was intrigued by the past, adored antiques, and enjoyed working at the antique store owned by her parents. Her life, like most, had been touched by tragedy and loss, yet she was happy. Though her life was not void of romance, it was void of a certain emotional passion. Still, she was young and assumed that one day some man might manage to sweep her off her feet. Sharlamagne did not expect to be entirely bowled over, however. And the day she first set eyes on Maxim Tanner, she was!
Elisaveta Tanner’s grandson, Maxim, was the dreamiest, most attractive archetypal male Sharlamagne and her sister, Gwen, had ever seen! Tall, dark, and illegally handsome, Maxim Tanner possessed not only fabulous looks, money, and the sweetest grandmother in the world but also a fair amount of local fame. He was gorgeous, clever, and pathetically out of reach for any average girl.
And so Sharlamagne went about her life happy and satisfied—for she had no idea what sort of emotional intensity the right man could inflame in her. She had no conception of how an age-old mystery and one man could converge to unleash a passion so powerful that it would be either the greatest gift she had ever known—or her final undoing.

Tifferz Take-
I have been waiting for this book forever and it was given to me as a gift from my mom. I was so excited to read this book. So, this story was just okay for me. This story did not reflect the great story telling that Marcia is known for.
I honestly think some of names did me in. I also felt that Marcia needed to develop Maxim character more and the drama in the story was anti-climactic. The story just did not come together for me. Lots of little things did not add up. I loved all the kissing! This story is clean like all of her books are. It does contain a few swear words. Marcia is an awesome writer and I hope her next book will reflect the great storytelling she is known for.

Josefina's Sin by Claudia H. Long

Blurb-
JOSEFINA’S SIN is a novel of motherhood, women’s rights, romance and scandal in the Spanish Viceroyal Court of 17th century Mexico. Author Claudia Long is a practicing attorney, and this novel grew out of her research for her Harvard honors thesis on the feminism of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, a Mexican nun and poet of that time who wrote at the risk of persecution by the Spanish Inquisition. Long’s research and passion for this period has enabled her to vividly recreate this world JOSEFINA’S SIN.

Josefina, a young, sheltered, landowner’s wife, is invited by the Marquessa to visit the Spanish Royal Court. Unaware of the social customs of the Court, she finds herself fighting off the aggressive advances of the Marques as well as the judgment coming from the other ladies of the Court. She soon begins to discover a world outside of everything she has known through the provocative, feminist poetry of Sor Juana de la Cruz, as well as an illicit, passionate relationship with the Bishop of Puebla. Through it, Sor Juana de la Cruz becomes Josefina’s mentor and leads her through this treacherous, confusing, and ultimately physically and intellectually fulfilling world

First off I love the cover of this book! I was excited to dive into Josefina's world. I got about a 100 pages in and had to put it down. I had a hard time with how the relationship that Josefina has with a Bishop developed. It became very intimate. (sexually) I know that that stuff happens, but I just don't care for it. So, that was my reason. I thought that Ms.Long did a great job taking the reader back in time. The story flowed very well from the beginning till I stopped. I will try another one of Ms. Long's stories in the future. Just because I did not finish this book does not mean you will not enjoy this story!

Sins Of The Mother by Tara Hyland

blurb:
From the author of Daughters of Fortune comes a sweeping family drama that follows a mother and daughter through the poverty of post-WWII Ireland and London and into the glamour of 1950s Hollywood and beyond, revealing the ways in which family ties can never be broken.
Tara Hyland is beloved by readers for her exquisite talent at weaving family sagas that journey through the rocky roads of secrets, lies, and betrayals, only to show that no challenge, no matter how difficult, can ever truly sever the bonds of love.

The novel opens in 1946, when Franny Healy is a beautiful and spirited teenager living in the poverty of County Cork, Ireland. Franny wants nothing more than to escape to the excitement of London. But when she discovers she is pregnant, her boyfriend abandons her. Undeterred, Franny flees to the city, where she finds work as a nightclub performer. She shines onstage and is soon propelled into a life she’s only dreamed of, filled with Hollywood stars, glamorous parties, furs and fashion, plus a new husband—who must never know of the daughter she left behind in County Cork with her mother.

Tifferz Take:

Okay guys I am now a fan of Tara Hyland. Man this woman can tell a story that keeps you on your toes. The story and characters are well developed and strong. I was hooked in the first few chapters. I did not want to put this book down. I was surprised at the unexpected twist and turns and was never expecting this book to end how it did. Sins Of The Mother contains abandonment, crime, abuse, love, romance, some bitterness and much more. This book does contain a few detailed sex scenes. You can easily graze over these if you dont care for that. I highly recommend this book and will read this story again. I love when a story stick with you and this one does.
