The Short Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer

Summary:

Fans of The Twilight Saga will be enthralled by this riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the newborn vampire world she inhabits. In another irresistible combination of danger, mystery, and romance, Stephenie Meyer tells the devastating story of Bree and the newborn army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion.

Tifferz Take:
If you like the Twilight Saga you will not be disapointed! I had to have this book and pre-ordered it! I really enjoyed this book! I liked the perspective that Bree gave us. I loved getting to know the newborns.I really liked that I got to read this book before going to see Eclipse! It made the movie that much better! The book gives you all the little details. I also like that $1 from each physical book sold in the first printing is being donated to the American Red Cross.

Tifferz Take:
I am so glad I purchased this book! Loved it!! After reading Rogue Hearts #1, The Stranger She Married, I was so excited to read book #2 A Guise of a Gentleman. The story was captivating and had agreat pace to it. This story had lot of adventure with twists and turns. There is a lot of chemistry between Jared and Elise, and lots of kissing, but a really sweet romance. This book is super clean just kissing!! I have grown to love the Amesbury family! I will be reading this one again! I look forward to book #3 and book #4! This book can also be a stand alone book. I would recommend reading The Stranger She Married first but you would be fine to just read A Guise of a Gentleman!

Excerpt From Tiger’s Voyage by Colleen Houck

He patted my arm and after considering a moment, said, “One of my sons once caught a small bird with an injured wing. He longed to care for it and keep it for a pet. One day he brought his bird to me. It was dead and he asked me why this had happened. After questioning him, I found out that the bird had flapped its wings. His care had helped the bird to heal. My son panicked and caught the bird before it flew away. He held it so tightly it suffocated.
“Sometimes, those things that are the most precious to us are taken or leave. The bird may have chosen to stay with my son or may have flown away. Either of those events would have led to a happier conclusion, the bird would have been happy regardless, and even though my son would have been sad about the bird leaving, he would have remembered it with a smile as he thought about it living a good life in the forest. But instead, my son was devastated by the death of his pet and had a very hard time recovering from the experience.”
“So you are saying to let him go.”
“What I’m saying is…you will be happier if he is happy. The bird’s wings could have been clipped and he could have been forced to stay with my son but then my son would never know if the bird would have chosen to stay with him.”

Colleen Houck gave me permission to post the above excerpt from Tiger's Voyage.

The Touch of Sage

This is the old cover

After the death of her parents, Sage Willows had lovingly nurtured her younger sisters through childhood, seeing each one married and never resenting not finding herself a good man to settle down with. Yet, regret is different than resentment.

Still, Sage found as much joy as a lonely young woman could find, as proprietress of Willows’ Boardinghouse—finding some fulfillment in the companionship of the four beloved widow-women boarding with her. But when the devilishly handsome Rebel Lee Mitchell appeared on the boardinghouse step, Sage’s contentment was lost forever.

Dark, mysterious and secretly wounded, Reb Mitchell instantly captured Sage’s lonely heart. But the attractive cowboy, admired and coveted by every young, unmarried female in his path, seemed unobtainable to Sage Willows. How could a weathered, boardinghouse-proprietress resigned to spinsterhood ever hope to capture the attention of such a man? And without him, would Sage Willows simply sink deeper into bleak loneliness—tormented by the knowledge that the man of every woman’s dreams could never be hers?

My Take:
This is a fun book to read!I read this book in one night I could not put it down. The older ladies made me laugh. The silly situations they got themselves into were so funny. The one thing I didn't like was Reb's mustache, so I just imagine him without it! You can't go wrong with a Marcia Lynn McClure book!

Forest Born (4th book Bayern series) by Shannon Hale

From the Cover:
Rin is sure that something is wrong with her...something really bad. Something that is keeping her from feeling at home in the Forest homestead where she's lived all her life. Something that is keeping her from trusting herself with anyone at all. When her brother Razo returns from the city for a visit, she accompanies him to the palace, hoping that she can find peace away from home. But war has come to Bayern again, and Rin is compelled to join the queen and her closest allies--magical girls Rin thinks of as the Fire Sisters--as they venture into the Forest toward Kel, the land where someone seems to want them all dead. Many beloved Bayern characters reappear in this story, but it is Rin's own journey of discovering how to balance the good and the bad in herself that drives this compelling adventure.

Once again, Newbery Honor-winning author Shannon Hale brings readers to a world where great friendships, unexpected plot twists, and a little dose of magic make for incredible storytelling.

Tifferz Take:
I bought "Forest Born" and loved it. Shannon Hale pulls off another wonderful sequal... I felt at the end she left it open to another sequal. I have a feeling Shannon Hale is not done with her Bayern series. She has a good thing going. I hope to see another book soon! Anyone who reads this book will enjoy it.
